They say the lowest form of humor is puns but I say it is painting a clown face on a dog's butt and letting it run around the neighborhood.
Very few people have so much unused potential.
The sudden but sadly temporary eruption of hope this weekend really makes me think. I wonder what it must be like for Trump to know that at any moment he could make so many people incredibly happy. Dancing in the streets, drinking your best liquor, boomboxes raised to the sky happy.
And yes I know there is a lot of merit to killing the entire party in the intro sample adventure. It's fun for all. But...
playtesting this adventure revealed that the crab monster is too damn hard by a longshot. Switching things up a bit tonight.
First version of this map was actually a little cluttered with these concrete tetrapods I like. They made things a bit distracting from the main elements of the map (the stranger, the pier, and the landing capsule). I was sad to get rid of them but the map serves its function far better.
I have to do orders a lot for work and even when they have a live customer service agent, now they just ask you a list of questions to feed into an AI later. Thing is they do this INSTEAD OF answering the question you had. Some real agents are just middle men for AI. Sad and infuriating.

I think I've found a great tongue twister that really gets bent if you say if fast and repeatedly. "Crotch Sprockets" It never keeps its shape, ends up as "Quatch spockets" in no time.
Heh. I didn't see the thread. I think it would be difficult to prove harm but I'm not a lawyer. For example I have bought some media I originally saw in WW books, like Marat/Sade after the mention in the malkavian book.
All my old white wolf books are littered with quotes and song fragments and I fail to recall them having troubles over it.

Maybe, hard to say. I have worked in hospital settings in one capacity or another for a long time and people tend to have moments of clarity and regret just before passing. What I find truly sad is that we had no societal defense against his ilk and are stuck waiting for this. It's pathetic.

When they are on segways, you just hear a whirr behind you and they have a little mini cop light and siren. Then while you are talking like 10 others surround you in a circle and start fingering their weapons.
Just got swarmed by campus cops when I walked outside due to a case of mistaken identity. The funny thing is they were all on segways, but that was the only funny thing. Tbh it really sucked and I am shaken up.
Remember when all those lawyers and such were supposed to save us? That was fun.

In light of school shootings, my kid's elementary school has a locked door and intercom at the front, with a vestibule where anyone entering can be interviewed by the office before letting them into another locked door. My elementary school way back when had... a door. It's all very fucked up.

Maybe "risky and interesting" just masks the cops and robbers "you're hit/no I'm not" underneath it all. If the table unclenches a little -and- conversely, doesn't abuse their freedom, you can have a lot of fun and just use the dice to settle the occasional contentious action.
The last one was odd and fatalistic even for me, I guess it felt like it would have been boring if I got away. I was rescued later, natch. Maybe the rule is better as "If you must roll, only do so if interesting and risky."
In another, I was in a fantasy game and my character left camp to get a drink. A spirit monster captured me and it just sort of... felt like how it should go. The GM even looked at me a few times to see if I would call for a roll. I just saw it as an intro to a coming fight and enjoyed the ride.
For example, in an old vampire game two player characters actually went through combat with each other, described what they were doing, one won and one lost. Neither touched the dice and both were happy with it. Unthinkable? I think about it all the time.
There's a common bit of advice on when to roll in rpgs: "Roll when the action is interesting and risky." I use it even. But I can't help but think back and notice really great times when my groups did not roll even when those requirements were met. So it must be more than that. #ttrpg

I asked my director what we would do in case of ICE raids where I worked and he replied that we didn't have anyone without a valid VISA so no worries. I think we are so rules oriented as a personal principle that we have no defense against someone without principles who ignores them.

Back from a Downy Ocean Hon vacation. It was fun being in a place that I love despite being kind of tacky. Or because of it? Not sure. I do love OC tho. (In my game MUTANANNY, this is all underwater)

If I was a big name game designer I know how I would spend my precious time: I'd vaguepost about some no-name designer doing something they thought was cool, because I know better that it will never work. I'd really get a sneer in, make me feel like a big man.

Regarding Newsom, it is notable that he hasn't done anything but talk and taunt yet. If he actually puts some bite on the bark it might be a different story.

My neighbours have a yard with a lot of dogs, and they all poop on their little concrete patio. So there is just this little display of dog poops. One of them, somehow, is standing straight up. Like it fell out the dog's ass perfectly vertical and just balanced on its end.
Impressively, the 2024 #dnd rules suggest that tieflings could have a huge variety of physical traits -- "Horns, fur, tusks" "cadaverous" "features in common with a night hag, a yugoloth" "Horns, spines, tails, golden eyes" but everyone still always draws them the same :/
Great worldbuilding, and the art is so good as raw pen & ink. Stencils on top is all, just a joy to look over the details.
Tonight in Orbital Megastructure, the group is entering Sector 2. Here is the map of Sector 1 (done on Roll 20) As you can see we did a lot of exploration, you have to look at the map as if it was a vertical cut of the sector. It take around 1 cycle to walk between two nodes.

MUTANANNY is swamp apocalyptic, so quite soggy but not quite aquatic. The outside is called the Moistlands even. It's more modern than fantasy so let's bias it towards guns.

What I dislike about them most is that they remove any element of volition or even context around the character.
I have a visceral aversion to tables that force a thing to happen to you in town or carousing. This is from my experiences with warhammer quest where everyone started drawing lots to see which high level adventurer had to go in town to get mugged or run over by the same cart again. It sucked. #ttrpg

A lot of books are more direct and when you close them, they are over. Dhalgren is just starting when you finish it and I have had a lot of little "oh wait..." moments just mulling it over, where things sort of snap into place. Here, I can see why a lot of people loved it.
I did manage to read all of Dhalgren over vacation, enjoyed it though some parts seemed like a slog. I enjoyed it but some parts were a bit of a slog, I can see why a lot of people hated it. But here is the thing, the parts I didn't understand stuck with me and still vex me.

I was kind of getting worried that the flowchart made METTLE Core's resolution seem complicated, until I saw the flowchart for Delta Green's sanity and daggeheart's core res. Neither are that complicated in play, it is just that the flow chart is comprehensive. #ttrpg

GM Tip: Follow the Rule of 3! Whenever you're making a new NPC, town or whatever, think of 3 traits to define it. e.g. sarcastic, a lisp, southern. It's a super easy way to make it memorable for both you and your players! #ttrpg #dnd #ttrpgCommunity #rpg
Always good. I had a DM a while back with very uninspired towns he would just call "Bobtown" or "Jimville" and obviously kind of hated it. It was not great. A good thing to do is have the party encounter a townsperson who sort of represents the town's quirks, like a town avatar but mundane.
This "car" as you call it, does not eat the hay and oats I leave out for it nightly and is difficult to brush. I would like a refund!
It's so weird to me how many people seem to REFUSE to meet a game half way if it doesn't immediately align with their expectations. This is why you keep getting sold boring slop.
