Looks like the ICE presence in Chicagoland—and I emphasize the “land” part—is purposefully operating in a way as to avoid media coverage. By grabbing people here and there on city edges, outskirts & random suburbs, they don’t attract activity that generates coverage, let alone protest.

As public spectacle, as opposed to disciplinary practice or pedagogical tool, “good-faith debate” is effectively an oxymoron. It’s certainly not a feature of political discourse, which is (especially for champions of “debate”) a matter of hammering home talking points and slogans.

I keep MA and DC because they are non-MCLE jurisdictions. I went inactive in NE because they had a (DCC-violative) requirement to attend CLE in person. With no clients or active practice, the IL application by motion's paperwork burdens and the state MCLE requirement are a real deterrent.

LLMs are purely statistical engines that operate on purely formal objects (character strings). We can “train” an LLM to distinguish true from false or fact from opinion or warranted from baseless just as soon as we can figure out how to reduce semantics and epistemology to syntax (which is never)
