Yes. And we are wayyyyyy beyond “hanging” and “pregnant” chads. My mail-in ballot (New Jersey) has a bar code, and not one, but two envelopes in which to seal it. The drop box is in front of a police station under 24-hour surveillance during election season. But you know, it’s all “rigged,” right? 🤬
jamesm1868.bsky.social (@jamesm1868.bsky.social) reply parent
He’s so utterly and completely FOS. Like annexing Greenland and Canada and reopening Alcatraz Island as a functioning prison. I live in NJ, a state with an off-year gubernatorial election. I vote by mail, and have for years. All I can say is, I’m voting for Sherrill and that ballot better be there!

Does it even matter anymore? Look at all that’s happened in the year since. Too much to list. But notice how the story, the shooter, his background, his motivation (however known or unknown) are gone from the news? It just got buried once Trump got what he needed. A bump in the polls and a photo op.

Doesn’t surprise me. Just a bunch of miserable, spineless, self-loathing, fake tough guy, hide-behind-a-screen, mindless, misguided, narcissistic, hypocritical, poorly informed, misinformed, lying, traitorous assholes. I could keep writing, but I’ll likely run out of space.

Don’t forget all the ridiculous swag and other products over the years. Steaks, tacky gold-plated sneakers, watches, coins, guitars and my favorite - some plaque or tchotchke with a piece of fabric from the debate with President Biden last June. It would be funny if it wasn’t both sad and true. 😂
jamesm1868.bsky.social (@jamesm1868.bsky.social) reply parent
It’s just this dog-whistle nonsense. We’ve all heard it before - the GOP and larger MAGA movement have no vision. Except the insufferable one we’ve all grown accustomed to - the one that’s always looking backwards and never forward. The blame-game. The “radical” left. They fear him - b/c he can win.
jamesm1868.bsky.social (@jamesm1868.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes. Yes. Thank you. I’m 55 - my cohort put this guy back in office a second time. It was all about vibes - MAGA is a fantasy and a lot of older voters bought into it. I sit at functions, bars, restaurants with people my age - educated, accomplished people and shake my head. It’s unbelievable.

There won’t be Civil War. Barely five years ago we couldn’t even get people to temporarily, temporarily wear masks in collective environments to battle a pandemic. Now we’re going to have a revolution? Sorry to offend anyone, but Americans are too busy making Instagram reels to fight for Democracy.
jamesm1868.bsky.social (@jamesm1868.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes. Every news broadcast or headline should just start with the same boilerplate. “JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT COULDN’T GET ANY WORSE…” Then start whatever it is you’re talking about. This has now become a daily (if not hourly) thing now.
jamesm1868.bsky.social (@jamesm1868.bsky.social) reply parent
Exactly. Just today I saw another clip - the “files were made-up by Comey, by Biden.” I said it a day or two ago - once he starts on the “fake news/witch hunt” conspiracy mantra which of course he now is, double-down and talk about Epstein even more. We’ve seen this play out before.
jamesm1868.bsky.social (@jamesm1868.bsky.social) reply parent
We used to reward and appreciate academic achievement and excellence in this country. We once celebrated advances in science and medicine. Now Trump has relegated all the “so-called experts” (who are actually real experts) to a scrap heap and discredited them. It’s an unmitigated disgrace.

jamesm1868.bsky.social (@jamesm1868.bsky.social) reply parent
Since when has what the majority of American people wanted mattered? After innumerable people have died from gun violence we wanted sensible, REASONABLE gun control. One that balances the Second Amendment against public safety. How much progress has been made on that issue? Exactly.
jamesm1868.bsky.social (@jamesm1868.bsky.social) reply parent
So ironic. Same mantra - criticize any decision or result, and you’re “radical” or “un-American.” From the very same man who staged an attempted coup of the government he claims to love and who has dispatched fat, badge-less masked men to terrorize law-abiding, hardworking people. A disgrace.
jamesm1868.bsky.social (@jamesm1868.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes. It sounds crazy, but I wound not rule out something like this just to boost flagging poll numbers. There is absolutely nothing that surprises me anymore - not after 1/6. We entered the presidential equivalent of a twilight zone after that.

So let me get this straight - is your MAHA director on-board with this? Let’s Make America Healthy Again by using a product outlawed following the completion of the WTC complex - in the early 1970s. Thousands upon thousands of people sickened, many terminally. I shouldn’t be surprised - but I am.
jamesm1868.bsky.social (@jamesm1868.bsky.social) reply parent
I worked in a law firm that handled many asbestos-related claims. Only one thing causes mesothelioma - asbestos exposure. It’s rare, and sadly, always terminal. To bring this product back into the stream of commerce is criminal. Hasn’t been widely used in decades. Sorry for your terrible loss…

I think he runs out of time. At least I hope he does. He’s an old man now. Look - it’s already June. Maybe I’m being a Pollyanna about it, but I think he has a long way to go before he gets to the military policing the streets. I live in blue New Jersey - and that’s where I’m staying.
jamesm1868.bsky.social (@jamesm1868.bsky.social) reply parent
Exactly. All MAGA Nation could talk about was “no new wars,” among other things. Well, that’s out the window. Along with lowering costs, ending the war in Ukraine over a weekend and bringing to bear sensible immigration reform. He has accomplished NOTHING.

I remember when then-director Comey said he was “reopening” the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails. About 10 days before the election in ‘16. I could tell you the exact place I was when I heard it on the radio. And I said, “that’s it. This distraction will cost her the election.” It did.
jamesm1868.bsky.social (@jamesm1868.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes. I’ve said it in other posts. 1/6/2021 is when we crossed the Rubicon. But especially in Trump’s second term. He’s going to fail, ultimately. There’s too many of us - the country is still too big and multicultural to defeat with a group of poorly trained men who couldn’t become real cops.
jamesm1868.bsky.social (@jamesm1868.bsky.social) reply parent
Agree. “I’m just beginning, my friend” is a new battle cry. As brilliant and powerful as it is simple. That should be on every Democrat’s tee shirt, campaign sign and anything else that promotes the cause. If anyone ever needs living proof that it’s never too late to stand up for us, here it is.

I’ve been practicing law for 25 years, and I still don’t consider myself an expert on Constitutional law. It’s that complex on many levels. But people like Lauren Boebert think it’s an advisory document - you could apply it, or not. Like it’s optional. This old document behind glass, an artifact.

jamesm1868.bsky.social (@jamesm1868.bsky.social) reply parent
I think you are largely correct. But something I remind others, as well as myself. The United States is huge. An enormous, multicultural behemoth of over 300 million people. Trump thinks he can change the country overnight. He can’t, and won’t. He doesn’t have enough time - or power. He will fail.
jamesm1868.bsky.social (@jamesm1868.bsky.social) reply parent
Correct. I need a license to own a dog. Yet there is no exam, no basic requirement, no standardized test that a member of that body must pass as it relates to their working knowledge of the Constitution. Even our own president “doesn’t know” of its broad applications. If that’s not a problem…
jamesm1868.bsky.social (@jamesm1868.bsky.social) reply parent
Thank you. The GOP let him rise again. 1/6 was the flashpoint, the disqualifying event. We became a different country after that. When they could clear a path to the WH again after that, they remain responsible for where we now find ourselves. But it’s too late now, sadly.
