Glasman is a rabble-rouser posing as a great mind.
jameslongsdonprice (@jamesprice.bsky.social) reply parent
Glasman is a bit like Matt Goodwin. Another dreadful rabble-rouser who peddles the beguiling myth that only neo-fascists understand and care about the working man. And McSweeney? Is he up there with these guys?
jameslongsdonprice (@jamesprice.bsky.social) reply parent
Starmer is such a disappointment.
jameslongsdonprice (@jamesprice.bsky.social) reply parent
He could afford to pay towards their treatment. It always makes me laugh when these neo-cons pretend they care about looking after their fellow Brits, when all they want is their vote.

Brexit: It's the fake picture narrative. The more you look at it and the more you invested in it, the more it has to be genuine.
jameslongsdonprice (@jamesprice.bsky.social) reply parent
Totally absurd. He is still young. Has he never heard of the seven year rule?
jameslongsdonprice (@jamesprice.bsky.social) reply parent
Indeed, Andy. These fools will besiege asylum seeker hotels, but they will never demonstrate for better NHS dental care. Has the Daily Mail ever published an article on the lack of NHS dentists?

Exactly - stirring up fear and loathing is the main aim. Nixon did that. Trump does that. Demagogues the world over do just this. They target the vulnerable like a serial abuser.

Philp is a rabble-rouser, a demagogue. It really is that simple. The word fascist also springs to mind.
jameslongsdonprice (@jamesprice.bsky.social) reply parent
As they say 'you couldn't make it up'. In the media nobody points out that Brexit has not made anything better. Trade is much harder. We've lost our FoM - which was supposed to push up the wages of the poor but It has actually made them poorer. But it's taboo to mention any of this.
jameslongsdonprice (@jamesprice.bsky.social) reply parent
This is the deal Johnson did, and Starmer seems to be happy with it, or rather Glasman and McSweeney are happy with it.
jameslongsdonprice (@jamesprice.bsky.social) reply parent
But people believe that they are stealing our jobs (and pushing wages down) and claiming benefits and if they aren't doing that they are destroying our culture, or assaulting young women.

I can travel from Liverpool Street to Reading on an off-peak travel card, and it is really quite quick enough. I wish they'd fix it so you don't need to take a bus to Heathrow from Reading (which is still a terrible rip-off, as is the fare from hayes and Harlington to the Heathrow terminals)
jameslongsdonprice (@jamesprice.bsky.social) reply parent
Same with the Dems, many of who lobby shamelessly, though they'd say they have no choice. Of course nothing beats a certain Nige when it comes to feathering his own nest, but he is a man of the people, so that's OK.

The concentration of wealth in the hands of a few isn't just bad for our economy. It's corrosive to our democracy. When the wealthy and well-connected control our political system, regular people don't have a voice. The result? The demagoguery and corruption we're seeing now.
jameslongsdonprice (@jamesprice.bsky.social) reply parent
This is the deal that Johnson wanted. If we are going to change it some 'concessions' will be needed, which actually won't be concessions, but given Starmer's inability to take on populism (or fascism) in the UK I can't see anything happening. Anyway, McSweeney and Glasman would go mad.
