The national Democratic Party has forgotten how to fight. But in this critical moment, we need fighters — not folders. We need a Democratic Party that is a little less Washington and a little more Texas.

Great crowd for @jamestalarico.bsky.social in the small town of Hillsboro, TX! The organizers said it was the biggest crowd they’ve ever seen at a political event in deep-red Hillsboro. This is how we win Texas.
James Talarico (@jamestalarico.bsky.social)
I just went on Fox News to tell the truth about the redistricting power grab in Texas. I asked a simple question: “If Republican policies are so popular, why do they need to redraw these maps; why not run on their policies?” He refused to answer — and cut the interview early.

Facing arrest, removal from office, and even a bomb threat, @jamestalarico.bsky.social has one message for Texas Republicans: “We will not be deterred.”

Ken Paxton just filed a lawsuit to remove me from office. But this seat doesn’t belong to him or me — it belongs to the people. My message to Ken Paxton: Come and take it.
James Talarico (@jamestalarico.bsky.social)
Trump threatened to arrest us. Abbott threatened to remove us from office. Paxton threatened to “hunt” us down. Yesterday, we received a bomb threat. But we will not back down.

We may not be in Texas, but we’re fighting for our constituents. We’re not just fighting for Democrats — we’re fighting for Independents and Republicans too. Because in a democracy, voters are supposed to choose their politicians — not the other way around.
James Talarico (@jamestalarico.bsky.social) reply parent
Greg Abbott and Ken Paxton will try to arrest us. So we’re traveling to Illinois for safe harbor. We’ll be in the Land of Lincoln — the state where Abraham Lincoln broke quorum as a state senator in 1840 by jumping out of the window at the Illinois State Capitol.
James Talarico (@jamestalarico.bsky.social) reply parent
But to pass these new maps, a certain number of legislators need to be on the floor to conduct business — a quorum. My Democratic colleagues and I are not giving them one. If they’re going to cheat, we’re not going to play.
James Talarico (@jamestalarico.bsky.social) reply parent
Trump is worried he’s going to lose in 2026. So to shield himself from the voters, he told Texas Republicans to redraw our state’s political maps — in the middle of the decade — to manufacture 5 new seats and protect their majority in Congress. It’s cheating. Plain and simple.
James Talarico (@jamestalarico.bsky.social)
My Democratic colleagues and I just left the state of Texas to break quorum and stop Trump’s redistricting power grab. Trump is trying to rig the midterm elections right before our eyes. But first he’ll have to come through us. It’s time to fight back.
James Talarico (@jamestalarico.bsky.social)
Donald Trump is trying to rig the next election. He told Republicans to redraw the political maps in Texas to give himself 5 more seats and protect his majority in Congress. This is the rot at the core of our broken political system.

I love the Ten Commandments. I’ve tried to build my life on the Ten Commandments. But forcing teachers to post the Ten Commandments violates the most important commandment: love thy neighbor.
James Talarico (@jamestalarico.bsky.social)
Texas Republicans just passed a bill forcing every teacher to post the Ten Commandments in their classroom. They passed it on the Sabbath… breaking the 4th Commandment. Maybe they should try following the Ten Commandments before mandating them.

James Talarico (@jamestalarico.bsky.social)
Greg Abbott has awakened a bipartisan, pro-public education movement. The same day he signed his billionaire voucher scam into law, Texans rejected anti-public education extremists in school board races across the state. Even in defeat, I see hope. A new movements is beginning.
James Talarico (@jamestalarico.bsky.social)
"Today, Governor Abbott signs his billionaire voucher scam into law. Remember this day next time a school closes. Remember this day next time a teacher quits. Remember this day next time your property taxes go up because the state is defunding our schools.”
James Talarico (@jamestalarico.bsky.social)
Greg Abbott is about to sign his private school voucher bill into law. Jeff Yass — the out-of-state billionaire who gave Abbott $12 million to pass vouchers — is in attendance. Parents and teachers just dropped this banner across the street from the Governor’s mansion.
James Talarico (@jamestalarico.bsky.social)
Greg Abbott is pushing the “FURRIES Act” claiming schools are giving litter boxes to students who act like cats. But when I asked the bill author, he couldn’t name one school providing litter boxes to kids. This is all part of Abbott’s smear campaign against our public schools.

James Talarico (@jamestalarico.bsky.social)
Greg Abbott hasn’t visited a Texas public school in years. Public schools are closing across our state, but the governor is nowhere to be seen. This is Abbott's school closure crisis.

An out-of-state billionaire gave Greg Abbott $12 million to pass a private school voucher scam. I'm joining my colleagues in requesting Mr. Jeff Yass testify before the Public Education Committee. Texans deserve to know who's behind this scam.
James Talarico (@jamestalarico.bsky.social)
You can't use the parks budget to redo your backyard. You can't use the highway budget to repave your driveway. You can't use the police budget to hire a personal security guard. And rich people can't use our public school budget to pay for private school. Say no to vouchers.
James Talarico (@jamestalarico.bsky.social)
The only minority destroying America is the billionaires. Here in Texas, a group of billionaires are trying to dismantle our public schools with a private school voucher scam. If they want to close our schools, Texans have 4 words for them: Come and Take It.
James Talarico (@jamestalarico.bsky.social)
There are some self-proclaimed Christians pushing voucher scams. Vouchers take money from public schools and give it to wealthy parents who already send their kids to private school. I can’t think of anything more un-Christian than stealing from the poor to give to the rich.
James Talarico (@jamestalarico.bsky.social)
Greg Abbott calls his voucher scam “school choice.” But we already have school choice—neighborhood schools, charters, magnets, academies & more. Vouchers don’t give us choice. Vouchers give our tax dollars to unaccountable private schools that can discriminate against our kids.
James Talarico (@jamestalarico.bsky.social)
Billionaires are trying to close our public schools with something called private school vouchers. They say it’ll help poor kids go to private schools. They call it “school choice.” It all sounds so noble. But vouchers are the biggest scam I’ve ever seen.

Greg Abbott and his billionaire mega-donors know private school vouchers are unpopular in Texas. So they’ve paid for a poll-tested rebrand to sell their scam. Here’s how to debunk their “school choice” slogan in 60 seconds…
James Talarico (@jamestalarico.bsky.social)
Six years ago, Greg Abbott came to this school and promised to invest in public education. Now this school is at risk of closing. Abbott is no longer working for the nearly 6 million school children of Texas — he’s working for the billionaires who write $6 million checks.
James Talarico (@jamestalarico.bsky.social)
We can’t forget what Greg Abbott did. When a bipartisan coalition rejected his voucher scam, he retaliated by withholding funding from our public schools. He’s sacrificing 5.5 million school children to please his billionaire donors. It’s unconscionable. Immoral. Unacceptable.
James Talarico (@jamestalarico.bsky.social)
Two billionaires are trying to take over our state government. They’ve bought the Governor. They’ve bought the Attorney General. They’ve bought the State Senate. Now they’re trying to buy the State House. Texas is too big and too great to be sold to the highest bidder.

The Texas State Board of Education adopted a new Bible-infused curriculum for elementary school students. The new lessons elevate Christianity over the other major world religions. This curriculum is un-constitutional, un-American, and deeply un-Christian.
