Disinformation aside, let's remember all energy sources have an environmental footprint. The real question is what kind of impacts are we willing to accept to turn on that light switch? Right now, our fossil fuel habit is pushing us toward mass extinction event.

Totally agree. I just know the price per unit of energy people pay for electricity versus natural gas is an important variable in driving whether consumers see the cost savings you'd anticipate with lower energy use. rmi.org/electric-rat...

Agreed. I feel like the climate movement needs to join forces and not just push back in the courts, but start making this a political issue in the midterms. The challenge though is having it breakthrough with all the other chaos being created by this administration.

Thx for sharing. It's laughable when Detroit talks about how "consumers aren't ready" for EVs. The reason they're not ready is that automakers continue to push gas vehicles first and foremost and because conservative have made EV adoption a culture war.

Carbon is generated manufacturing both types of vehicles. The analysis I linked takes into account both the manufacturing and driving of an EV versus an ICE. Manufacturing an EV generates more emissions, but because driving an ICE produces far more emissions an EV comes out ahead.

Pulling back now on efficiency standards is the last thing we want to be doing, especially with the current federal rollbacks. Sure, some efficiency updates increase the upfront costs of housing, but those are always offset by the long-term benefits of lower operating costs.

Totally agree. States have been huge drivers of our transition to renewables with RPSs and other mandates. At the same time, we need to lean on the Republican members of Congress who understand the threat of climate change and can protect the big wins like the Inflation Reduction Act.

Frustrating, but not shocking. Many people don't recognize the depths of the corruption or how their future is being auctioned off for the benefit of near-term corporate gains. I just hope the pile of lawsuits against big oil start to bear fruit.

Fantastic news indeed. I hope the international community can provide resources to DRC to help it become sustainable like investing in a clean energy grid to remove pressures to harvest wood and charcoal for heating needs.

Worrying won't stop climate change. We need action and it starts with reframing the debate. Its either 1) invest in decarbonization today or 2) face economic ruin tomorrow... If people think inflation is bad now, just wait a decade.
