The issue isn't that Snowden let adversaries know we were call chaining. The damage was that he disclosed our source and methodology of collecting that data to our foreign adversaries. Satellites, collection methods, and other technical info was given to Russia. Kind of gives away the game.
People focused on the collections of US communications because of buzzwords, but they were collecting metadata. You can't use information collected on US citizens, even if it is collected inadvertently. NSA was very strict about that, and he hurt intel community reputation and fled to Russia.
The data he leaked directly compromised how the US military was tracing taliban targets through call chaining their contacts and identifying terrorist cells. I was in the NSA when this happened. The taliban instantly changed their communications ops following the leaks.
Apparently free trade was part of project 2025. If Trump dies, it is possible they lift the tariff policies which would possibly help some. However, then public perception may shift toward a more favorable outlook on the regime.
