I would be extremely cautious about this, given how many people with long covid show symptoms of ME, and how GET went.

No one is saying don't go. Your name doesn't need to be on a list for that.
Jacq (@jefrir.bsky.social) reply parent
Why does their mailing list need info on if you attended a particular protest? And why not just be honest and say "sign up to our mailing list"?
Jacq (@jefrir.bsky.social) reply parent
That's not what these people are arguing, though.
Jacq (@jefrir.bsky.social) reply parent
They could have a general mailing list people can sign up to. They don't need a list of who's at a specific protest.
Jacq (@jefrir.bsky.social) reply parent
I'm sure no one associated with the civil rights campaigns in the 60s ended up shot, right?
Jacq (@jefrir.bsky.social) reply parent
But signing up for a protest doesn't do anything helpful for us, so why take extra risks for nothing?
Jacq (@jefrir.bsky.social) reply parent
How did so many people end up in Gaza? What are residents of Gaza City being told to do right now?

Not being a member of the ICC is the US specifically avoiding international law.

This interview asked about their concerns, and they turned out to be "Muslims exist near us." Leftist parties should deal with the genuine problems in the country, but pandering to these sorts of people leads nowhere.
Jacq (@jefrir.bsky.social) reply parent
I honestly think it's more the reverse - a hierarchical society in which some people are considered inherently better than others makes it easier to impose policies that hurt those at the bottom, and reduces solidarity between the poor and the comfortably off.

The BBC is now fully colluding with fascists. Talking about Charlie Kirk, JD Vance and Tommy Robinson as free speech activists, even played a clip of Vance on Kirk's podcast without mentioning the bit where he vowed to use government force against the left.

all of this makes me want to scream, but the part I'm going to be up all night rage-spiraling about is accusing her of "potentially endangering the physical safety of our staff" just flippin' those narratives right around so the Black woman, a TARGET of violent hate speech, becomes the aggressor

What the Debate Me bros have done is found a way to filibuster the self-evident humanity of a person or group by making it an endless topic of debate. As Toni said: "None of this is necessary. There will always be one more thing." It's not my job to prove my equality to those who think me inferior

Oh god, you definitely don't want to claim asylum in the UK! We're fucking awful to refugees! Not that I expect it's hugely better elsewhere, but different parties competing in how cruel they can be has been a feature of our recent politics.

There are things being tried, including low dose natroxone, but nothing that's been established as helping with the fatigue. There are things that help with the other effects - I'm on pregabalin and duloxetine to help with the migraines and muscle aches. I'm sorry you're dealing with it, it sucks.

Bright red blood might mean it's from higher up, but might also mean it's from a bigger or more active bleed. There's a lot of things that can cause it, and some of them are very serious. I know it'll be a bastard for the PEM, but it really needs checking out. Are you in the UK, by any chance?

Charlie Kirk’s shooter was a 22 year old white cis man & 4chan groyper. Charlie Kirk’s last words were “gang violence”. he was claiming Black people were inherently violent right before his life was ended by another white man. Here is a description of Kirk’s terrorism by one of his many victims:

Since Charlie Kirk was fatally shot, people on the left have been censored, punished, and targeted with more violence for telling the truth about Kirk's legacy. The cycle continues: mainstream whitewashing of violence begets more violence and the victims are blamed. spitfirenews.com/p/the-nation...

Sincerely the worst thing about political discourse for the past 10 years is this insistence that we should hear everyone out and every stance is worth a debate. Espousing racist talking points and misleading stats doesn't make someone civil or even worth engaging.

Kier Starmer's statement that includes the words "We must all be free to debate openly and freely without fear - there can be no justification for political violence" feels *slightly* hypocritical when he criminalises peaceful protest, endorses transphobia, and fully backs UK arms sales to Israel.

Charlie Kirk spent his life‘s work and all of his energy and time targeting out-groups while arguing for a world in which gun massacres would be easy to enact, plentiful, and inevitable, and he became famous and wealthy doing it, and we’re now not supposed to mention that because it’s not polite.

Here's something that needs to be stressed: no amount of saying "political violence is never acceptable" is going to make Republicans NOT do more political violence and become more extreme. They were doing that anyway and it's literally not possible for them to do that faster than they already are.

Legal equality isn't all that matters, and rights to things like freedom from discrimination aren't consistently enforced. You seem to have a very limited view of the various campaigns for gay rights.
