Just for perspective, a few weeks ago roughly 100,000 turned up for the London Trans+ Pride march. By contrast fewer than 3,000 ACROSS THE WHOLE COUNTRY, have turned up to anti-asylum "protests". Yet we are meant to take the latter as "the voice of the people" and the former as "the minority".
I agree, and appreciate someone qualified backing this up, but also, you don’t even need to be trained in behavioural psychology to know this, this *should* just be common sense, that you can’t just frighten people into being well enough to work, that these stresses will just make them worse

🧵NOT BY ME, this is a post from someone who wants to remain anonymous but works extensively with trans people pre-transition. They were asked by someone “why do you think that’s so much [coverage of trans people] in the news at the moment?” This was their response:
Dundee showing up. Trans people have always existed and always will.
It's still illegal to discriminate against you for being trans, but is legal to discriminate against you for any expression of that transness is a frankly absurd interpretation of the law and it's extremely evident none of these people sincerely think trans people should exist.
An important reminder as the Supreme Court makes its judgement - not a single trans person was heard from at any point during this case before them, even a trans judge who applied was refused. This is, as usual, the British state acting as cis people to impose their will on trans people.
More journalists need to talk about this the way Japanese articles do

Not only did I find out that Dundee’s Mills Observatory had been saved from closure via John Darnielle, he’s now bigging up NTS. I’m fully here for this tMG/Scottish culture/heritage Bluesky crossover.
I also feel that it’s worth noting that this decision required someone to say ‘put a big fuck off bow on my restaurant a week before christmas, even though every other restaurant has had their decorations up for weeks, i don’t care how much it costs’.
