Gavin Newsom is not imitating Trump. He is mocking him. He is holding up a mirror to what Trump does and how blind his supporters are to reality. From the 3 hour North Korean style cabinet meetings to all caps nonsense tweets. It’s all worthy of mockery.
This notion that Republicans are coasting right now and the wind is beneath the sails of Donald Trump is just not true. Joni Ernst is not going to run for reelection in Iowa. There was a special election in Iowa earlier this week and the Democrats have now broken the Republican super majority.
Then you could stop defunding mental health programs and back red flag laws. Simple!
Let's say that a Democratic president was shaking down private businesses and saying give me 10% of Intel and maybe I will make things more favorable. Let's say a Democratic president said I want to control what goes in our museums, life on campuses. Republicans would be outraged.
Let's say a Democratic president had absolutely no respect for congress, a coequal branch, appropriating funds, tariff policy. Let's say that a Democrat was deploying the National Guard to cities controlled by Republicans.
Trump would rather we kick and scream over deploying the National Guard vs talk about the Jeffrey Epstein files or his falling approval ratings. He’s playing games with the National Guard and distracting his supporters while doing so.

Trump wants us focused on Hunter and 2016 distractions instead of this: 52% think we’re in a recession, 64% say the economy’s getting worse, 70% say Trump hasn’t done enough on prices, and 62% say his policies raise food costs. His approval? Just 42%. The Golden Age sucks.
