The only two things it still does is omnibus spending bills (and debt ceiling stuff) that set a ceiling on spend, with subspending in it openly ignored and unclear if that would be circumvented in any case, and maybe confirming federal judges. Everything else at this point is actively suspended

I lived in Los Altos for 25 years. No sidewalks, to preserve the "rural character" and make it easy to trip at night in the dark. Minimal streetlights. Also, the street signs are impossible to read -- by design IMO. Because if you need to read the street signs you probably don't live there.

Yep, there were two original sins, IMO. One was Biden should not have decided to run for reelection, and should have declared that early. The second was that Harris wasn't a great pick for VP to begin with. That being said, when he dropped out, she was the best choice at that time.

This is among the reasons why I think the "defund" slogan was such a mistake; it allowed a deflection away from what the police were actually doing, and people said "see, these people just want more violence and no cops." "Demilitarize the police," "democratize the police," etc. would be better.
