Given the nature of social sciences I would agree 100%! They seem to have no integrity to begin with. I have an MS in education (2004). My kindergarten in 1952 probably had more academic rigor and intellectual integrity

If we are talking about space based solar like Starlink you are right. Earth based Solar plants can generate power no more than 6-8 hrs/day avg (more summer less winter) The sun is always shining somewhere but what good does daylight in China do when I need power in Puerto Rico?
An issue with wind/solar is that it generates DC power. This has to be inverted to synthetic AC power (AC but different wave form, it's complicated) If the power grid does not have true AC from a rotating Jenny, you can't put the synthetic AC into it. So wind/solar can only work with ice

Over the course of the year, the sun shines 12 hours a day average in any location. About 6-8 of those hours depending on location can generate electricity. Then take away for clouds, snow. It is why a 1mw (nominal) solar plant is about 200-250kw actual output.
Does he sell it at the retail rate? (same rate he pays to buy) if so, he is getting a pretty dramatic subsidy. Also The utility is his backup battery for free. Wind works when subsidized like this. You and other utility customers are paying for it
