Given the nature of social sciences I would agree 100%! They seem to have no integrity to begin with. I have an MS in education (2004). My kindergarten in 1952 probably had more academic rigor and intellectual integrity

From the linked article it was not a problem of challenging but a problem of fraudulent advertising. The catalog and syllabus said the course would teach one thing, the prof taught something else. The student thought the had been defrauded of their tuition money. President agreed. Fake news

A bit more foil hat speculation: Musk is big on robots because he plans on building huge, multi-sq mile solar panels in space. You can't do that with human construction workers. You can with autonomous robot construction workers. Maybe not quite yet, but almost. Coming fast.
jimmy3jay.bsky.social (@jimmy3jay.bsky.social) reply parent
I suspect on no real basis, that musk's goal is space based solar. He is already doing it at microwave scale with starlink. The physics has been solved for 125 years (tesla, long Island) it's now just engineering and economics. Mostly economics. Then I will believe in solar again
jimmy3jay.bsky.social (@jimmy3jay.bsky.social) reply parent
If we are talking about space based solar like Starlink you are right. Earth based Solar plants can generate power no more than 6-8 hrs/day avg (more summer less winter) The sun is always shining somewhere but what good does daylight in China do when I need power in Puerto Rico?
jimmy3jay.bsky.social (@jimmy3jay.bsky.social) reply parent
An issue with wind/solar is that it generates DC power. This has to be inverted to synthetic AC power (AC but different wave form, it's complicated) If the power grid does not have true AC from a rotating Jenny, you can't put the synthetic AC into it. So wind/solar can only work with ice
jimmy3jay.bsky.social (@jimmy3jay.bsky.social) reply parent
Why yes, look at what happened in Broken Hill aus last year. About 300mw of wind and solar to supply a town with 25mw load, abt 35mw peak. Also a 100mwh battery (abt 4 hrs supply) When the outside power line blew down, none of that could be used and the city was dark for a week or so
jimmy3jay.bsky.social (@jimmy3jay.bsky.social) reply parent
Over the course of the year, the sun shines 12 hours a day average in any location. About 6-8 of those hours depending on location can generate electricity. Then take away for clouds, snow. It is why a 1mw (nominal) solar plant is about 200-250kw actual output.
jimmy3jay.bsky.social (@jimmy3jay.bsky.social) reply parent
Does he sell it at the retail rate? (same rate he pays to buy) if so, he is getting a pretty dramatic subsidy. Also The utility is his backup battery for free. Wind works when subsidized like this. You and other utility customers are paying for it
