This should be a giant wake-up call to Microsoft and the state of the Game Pass versions of PC games. It’s a regular occurrence that games in the Microsoft Store are older versions or missing features, and in this instance it could have had a devastating effect on some PCs.
So THAT's the main reason behind the steam version still requiring the Ubisoft launcher. Honestly, Valve should create stronger rules for that shit and stop accepting games that require an additional DRM layer other than Steam itself.

THIS is the reason why the Stop Killing Games initiative exists in the first place. If you think that videogames are an art form like i do, then you should also agree that ALL games deserve to be preserved, regardless of people's individual opinions about them.
Shit like this makes me have less sympathy towards big game publishers. The fact they're pushing hard against this initiative means it's going in the right direction. if you live in the EU, keep those signatures going.
And we all know it. Everyone that's been working on this for a bit has most likely crossed paths with this kind of people. They always have an answer ready for everything, you are not sure of what they actually do at work and everything is a numbers game for them.
It would be easy to dunk on Matt, what with him showing this lack of empathy and, you know, for keeping his job while 9000 workers were fired instead. This should also remind us that up the chain this industry is full of this kind of ignorant, greedy monkeys, playing at being adult humans.

The only "justification" for Nintendo using a screen like this would be manufacturing costs. I might be wrong here but I think the og switch uses an IPS display which is faster but more costly at refresh rates higher than 60 compared to a mini-LED with higher contrast but worse response times.

Not only that. At least in my experience, I always have to mess with that engine's config files (specifically the MaxSmoothFramerate variable) to ensure it doesn't look choppy when running at anything higher than 62 fps. UE4 lets you at least play at arbitrary framerates from the get-go.

Get too reliant on easy solutions and suddenly you're making the same game as everyone else. You're making the exact same Unreal 4 Synty zombie shooter as hundreds of other developers (or whatever the AI generated equivalent will be), instead of something that is uniquely you.
There will always be easy solutions to these problems, and sometimes you do have to take them just for the sake of practicality. But every problem you don't solve yourself is a tiny bit of creativity that isn't going into your project.
It's the exact same trap as asset stores but 10x worse. Creativity is not waking up and having a grand auteur vision, creativity is applying your unique toolset and imagination to solve a problem in a unique way, and repeating that hundreds of thousands of times until you have a finished work.
Regardless of how you feel about AI, I'd strongly advise you don't do this. This is going to sabotage you in the long run.

That ladt point is what drives me nuts in particular about people saying Doom Eternal was "better optimized." No it wasn't, it's target 60FPS optimized hardware was an Xbox One VCR which had mediocre specs even for the time.

Seriously, as much as I love Eternal, micromanaging inputs was cumbersome at times and I sincerely lacked the time or patience to get used to it. Here in TDA, fights are just as challenging as before but more manageable because you have less button presses to worry about imo
It also has, in my opinion, a smarter way to deal with resource management, by making melee the main way to replenish ammo mid-fight and relegating armor replenishment to passive abilities, rather than assigning dedicated buttons for it
I respect and defend people's love for melee in first person games but it didn't appeal that much to me until I started playing Doom: The Dark Ages. Parrying and combo-ing attacks feels so satisfying in this game (1/?)
It’s not “forced on” it should be noted. It’s part of the game’s design just as much as pixel shaders were part of Half-Life 2. Which, by the way, what people are complaining about is akin to asking why HL2 doesn’t run on a Riva 128 or 3DFX Voodoo card. Same period of time.

Yeah i heavily agree with you on this. The only reason i upgraded was because my previous PC parts died due to a power surge, and even then, the upgrade was quite expensive, just the GPU alone cost me a full console purchase. It's pretty rough in the PC market atm
