Slowly getting through my bowl yips. Part of my struggle is I like feet like this but forget how much clay I need to leave there when throwing to support the bowl itself flaring out. my brain just wants to throw to the final form. #pottery

I’ve had many cats but she’s my first tortie and I’ve never had a cat so velcroed to me before
Working on some larger platters. Today I threw 15lbs of very soft white stoneware. Then added porcelain slip to the rim. I will try to so the initial trim in about 3 days then go back to finesse the next day. The it will slowly dry for abouta week #pottery
Thankfully she’s only like, 6lbs. It could be dire if she were a chunker 😂

It can be really frustrating when it’s very intricate but it’s also kind of zen in that I can do it while watching tv and it’s not time sensitive like working with greenware.
I don’t think this pattern came out quite as well as the last time I did it but hopefully it’ll still come out. Still gotta add the latex so I can make it a three color glaze pattern.

When we bought our house we didn’t even know it had a peach tree. It’s this old dilapidated half broken thing that still provides us beautiful peaches each year. Before the bear eats them anyway. :)

Also we are the fourth among our friends to lose a cat in the past two weeks, three of them in the past three days, and it’s like STOP already.
We started 2020 with 8 cats. And I know it’s been 5 years but to lose 5 cats in a time period that already felt oddly compressed because of All the Things has felt relentless.
Had to say goodbye to our sweet Mama cat today. Really sick of losing my babies.
Spent some time down at a friends studio yesterday and threw a bunch of stuff on an electric wheel, including this giant spray paint can. Trying to throw over 8 lbs on my kickwheel is a lot of work. Total this one was thrown with about #20
My problem is usually Tall is toooo tall because I am tall but not giant? So medium tall seems like a big win

They’re marketing The Roses as a comedy but I recall that the same was true about The War of the Roses back in the day and when I saw that I was like wtf this is not funny it’s brutal and cruel so I have to imagine the same is true of the new one 🤪
Sigh. Our kidney cat is not having a good day. I wish it were easier to tell when she was just having a dodgy tummy vs worsening illness.

It's not that 16 was an idyllic time for me by any means, and I do think I'd be amazed by the actual literal Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy I carry in my pocket, but jumping from 1997 to 2025 sounds like an absolute nightmare. It's the second act of Back to the Future II. With bonus pandemic.

I sent a friend home with some peaches yesterday and I have been informed they are the cat’s peaches now.
I have a black thumb and cannot handle being a gardener so it’s lovely that our janky peach tree that looks half dead so generously produces lovely peaches without us doing anything about it. It’s like “yay! The fruits of our non-labor!”

I often use mitochondria to tell people how my name is pronounced and half the people don’t know what that is and the other half automatically say it’s the powerhouse of the cell
