$1.5 billion is just $3,000 per author. And as someone who makes their living as a writer, I can tell you: my full-time career is worth a hell of a lot more than a single payment of $3,000. The judge also ruled that it's "fair use" if the AI companies buy your book. It absolute is NOT. Awful.

I think a lot of it is that the public doesn't see them as a true contender for power, and that none of their actions demonstrate that the electorate are wrong. The central party has them trying to get votes from the liberals, constantly moving away from labour & grassroots movements to do it.
Oh I could write an essay on why I think the NDP is losing ground though I'd just as soon recommend anything by Nora Loreto on the topic. I just think the media is making this a bigger deal than it is. Candidates went from needing 50% women to 50% women and gender minorities. That's not news.
