Bullpen and Boone are ultimately at fault for this loss, but that was a truly brutal game for the ump. That last strike call on Jazz was inexcusable.

Yes, Ryan McMahon is better than Peraza. Peraza is below replacement level, that's the lowest bar imaginable. But the problem is that Cashman came into the season with a gaping hole at 3B, and then filled it with a guy whose bat is lacking who is owed $16M/yr through 2027.
So Cashman goes out and gets a 3B who can't hit outside of Coors Field (and can barely hit there tbh) who is getting $16M a year for the next 2 and a half years. Rather than just plugging that hole over the offseason. The most Cashman move ever.
We're talking about a game where Clayton Kershaw can come in for 2 outs in the 2nd inning, and get pulled so he can get an ovation from the crowd. If you are betting on that, you deserve to lose your money.

This was pointed out by @riveraveblues.bsky.social a while back, but the Yankees do not have $760M extra to spend now. They have $47M/year extra to spend (what they were willing to pay for Soto annually). They can't give out $700M+ in guaranteed money over a much shorter period than 16 years.
I'm all in on Cody Bellinger at this point. Ideal? No, but he's a significant upgrade and he's just barely on the right side of 30. I'd love it if Cashman went on a tear with acquisitions, but not expecting it at all.
If you ever thought Juan Soto was going to do anything other than take the highest deal, I don't know what to tell you. It has nothing to do with the Yankees' future vs. the Mets' future. He's a Boras client. He was always taking the most money, period.
