Responses are all just validations of the mommy/daddy party theory. They can't be bothered to give the first fuck that Trump and MAGA voters used their agency to decimate Medicaid but are spitting anger that someone would suggest Dems not clean up the mess after they punch themselves in the face.

And ‘closing rural hospitals frequented almost exclusively by rural senior citizens will mainly kill democrats’ is one of the stupidest sentences ever posted on this site.

There is polling on this! White rural Medicaid recipients voted heavily for Trump! This is not unknown.

A new paper by Nobel Prize-winning economist Claudia Goldin has found that countries where men take on more of the household labor and child care — in other words, those who buck traditionalism’s standards of the provider husband and homemaker wife — have higher fertility rates.

I was just writing some notes about this for myself. There are two basic approaches: 1) Break the power of the court, or 2) capture its power from the radical right. Capture is technically easiest: just expand with a Dem president to appoint 5-7 new justices. Straightforward, but yes, arms race.
Kevin Elliott (@kjephd.bsky.social) reposted reply parent
Breaking its power means changing how it operates. "Circuit-izing" the court by expanding it & having it hear cases on randomly selected panels weakens it by dividing it internally. Adding members randomly from the circuits also; so does reforming the cert power to abolish the shadow docket.
John Whingey Adams (@johnwingeyadams.bsky.social) reply parent
When - looking back at 30 years of post-Gingrich midterms - a thermostatic reaction to a president who won with 43 percent of the vote was almost inevitable, especially if he was trying to enact major changes to health care and spent his entire first two years getting backstabbed by Blue Dogs.

They really believe that kitchen table caused the 1994 midterm backlash.
John Whingey Adams (@johnwingeyadams.bsky.social)
Harry and Louise sitting at their kitchen table killed Hillarycare in 1993 (back when anyone knew what this means) and elderly Dem electeds have thought ever since that it was the table that was the silver bullet and can't stop trying to recreate it. Sheer gerontocratic cargo cult all the way down.

Yeah like when someone attends a protest whose subtext is that Evanston’s large historic black community, which rich whites have been trying shove out for years, doesn’t belong there and she doesn’t apologize after then she stops becoming a lot of people’s cup of tea.
