Just saw this in a charity shop. I had a quick search online and found a blog post by Stewart Home (who I worked with on a comic back in the 90s!) who suggests that this is possibly Lou Reed & John Cale cashing in on Beatlemania pre-Velvets. Anyone know if this is true?

This obi was hard. I’m very sad to report the passing of the marvellous comic artist, UFO and Rush fanatic Dave Taylor, most recently known for his outstanding work for 2000AD, who, at the time of his death, had been working on the second volume Megatropolis for Judge Dredd Megazine
When I lived in a pub in the 80s we had an organist who played every Friday night who (claimed!) he’d worked the lights at the ‘63 Royal Variety Performance. He was full of Epstein death conspiracy theories but being shot wasn’t one of them!

We’ve got more info on the poster. These are screen grabs from a doc. on Lucas Motors. QRY stands for Quality Reliability Year. “British Productivity Council organised the Quality & Reliability Year for focusing the attention of the nation on this essential aspect of industrial efficiency 1964/65“
Any clues? Anybody know what the QRY is?
Currently about 50% if not higher. US customers tend to spend more (probably to make the most of the postage costs).
Just reluctantly removed all the US shipping options from my shop. Hopefully when the dust settles, or he changes his mind, I’ll be able to add them again. Between this and Brexit my shop sales have been decimated over the last few years.

The reference was one photo of Mr Mudge in the doorway of his shop and from that I had to produce an illustration of an entire shop window including products and adverting materials all historically correct for the period. I’ve never done so much research for one illustration! Here it is in situ.
Haha! She loved offal, boiled pigs feet, cow’s hearts, brawn and Guinness but thought the idea of spaghetti was disgusting.
