Just a reminder before the “big announcement” today. Autism was discovered in 1911 and the modern definition of Autism came in 1943. Tylenol wasn’t widely used until the 1950s. Anyone trying to tell you that Tylenol causes Autism isn’t someone that should be taken seriously.

The word “autism” was first used to describe behavioral differences in children in 1911 but autism has been documented using available records going back to the 1700s (definitively) and further. Acetaminophen (Tylenol, paracetamol) was discovered in 1878 and first sold in the United States in 1950.

Important to note that CDC recommends HepB vaccination at biirth REGARDLESS of mother's infection status because the protective window is only ~12 hours, test results can be delayed or in error, vaccine protects infants when maternal status is unknown, and starting vaccine early improves adherence.

I just saw a patient with liver cancer from hepatitis B that was acquired at birth. Vaccination would’ve prevented it. There’s been a 99% reduction in annual childhood hep B infections since 1991 thanks to universal birth dose vaccination. We can’t afford to roll back that progress.

(1) In my experience, when data management doesn't happen until the end of a project, about 80% of DM is detective work (what are these values, why is data missing, how do we handle this messy data)? This way of working is tedious, often frustrating, and can lead to lost or misunderstood data.
