So anyhoo, we put the remix on Video Dub Plate, and it was one of our audience's favorites. When a track was hot, Jason in the edit would pull up and rewind. Well this one was hot ... EXCEPT for Puffy's verse -- because of COURSE he put a verse on the remix. (Picture me rolling my eyes...)
Cat released the original in 1992, and a year later Columbia Records put out a remix, "produced" by Puffy (who I was told when I interviewed Brian McKnight back in the day for an article, meant he walks into the studio with the actual producers, listens in and says "I like that," then records it...)
One of the main features of the show was the "pull up and rewind," where Jason (who directed and edited the show) would put in a record scratch and rerun the track, DJ style. One of the most popular videos we would play on the show was "Dolly My Baby" by legendary dancehall artist Super Cat.
