Pay ALL employees a living wage. Definition: One in which they can sufficiently support themselves and their families, if any, without having to have multiple jobs or work overtime. Members of the C-Suite should not be the only ones paid massive bonuses and salaries. Tax the wealthy!
We have an ongoing issue with civil rights in this country. It's simple...the majority does not want the minority to have any rights. Unless the majority starts feeling differently....we would always be struggling.
I'd like to think that my leaving was the catalyst for that strike. People need the right stimulation before acting sometimes.
Before I migrated to the US, I worked as a hospital pharmacist in Trinidad. Pharmacists were underpaid in comparison to Drs. I earned less than a thousand US monthly. I left because my colleagues would not organize and strike for better wages. One year of being in the US.....they went on strike.
We are not valued. Many employers see their employees as replaceable.
I actually do enjoy learning from.others, especially students.
We are spending money to go to work everyday. Going to the office every day lost its appeal for me during the pandemic, when I realized how much money I saved by staying home.
I have always wanted to be a teacher..ever since I was a little girl. Currently, I'm a professor. I'm also a pharmacist...that part is all my mom's doing... One day when trying to figure out what to put on a college application, she told me...choose Pharmacy, you'll make good money..
One summer in high-school, I clerked for a government office. I was in charge of payroll checks. I have no recollection of how much I was paid.
