An update: I’m no longer the Braves beat writer for the AJC. I won’t discuss the details of what occurred, but I did feel like I owed it to you all to thank you for your support in my time on the beat. Braves Country is really special. I’m already excited about whatever is next.

Spencer Strider sat on a training table last April. He knew he blew out. “This is great,” he said. This is how he thinks. Instead of a lost season, he saw an opportunity to grow during rehab. Inside his rehab, month by month, from mind to mechanics: www.ajc.com/sports/atlan...

Jake Marisnick has joined Braves camp as a non-roster invitee.
Justin Toscano (@justinctoscano.bsky.social)
Ian Anderson said he's fueled by the goal of getting back to who he was in the World Series and prior to that. Anderson, if healthy, should be a lock for the roster because he's out of options and the Braves won't have Spencer Strider in the rotation on opening day.

The Dodgers spent a ton, but the Braves say they still love their roster’s chances. “Just because we didn’t go out and spend a bunch of money doesn’t mean anything inside here,” Matt Olson said. Full story: www.ajc.com/sports/atlan...

Brian Snitker said everyone who had to report Monday did report. He said there are no injury surprises after physicals (none besides the guys the Braves knew were injured).

A.J. Minter began last spring by saying it was "World Series or bust" for Atlanta. The same confidence still there? Matt Olson chuckled before answering. "The confidence is still there," he said. "We are not going to be making any statements."

Chad Kuhl, Jake Diekman and Dylan Covey are in camp as non-roster invitees — now official and happened after Braves announced NRIs.

Some folks have asked, so addressing now: The AJC is re-evaluating its podcast slate this year. They are not sure where the Braves Report, launched three years ago, will land. No episodes currently planned. Sorry guys.
Justin Toscano (@justinctoscano.bsky.social)
The Braves' lone notable addition, to this point, is Jurickson Profar. And yet, projections still love them. So, perhaps both can be true: 1. It would've been nice to see them do more (they still can) 2. They still have a great roster Spring is here! www.ajc.com/sports/atlan...

If you missed it, the Braves released the NRIs for spring. Drake Baldwin back in camp. Chasen Shreve is an interesting bullpen option imo. Also excited to see Royber Salinas, who’s back with the org. Not a ton of interesting stuff on that list this time around.

The key question in the Jurickson Profar deal is this: How close will be he to that 2024 version of himself? He's confident he's that guy going forward. Analyzing the risk the Braves are taking and the big benefits it could have: www.ajc.com/sports/atlan...
Justin Toscano (@justinctoscano.bsky.social)
The Braves believe 2024 Jurickson Profar is who he will be going forward. They did their research to answer the question: Was his season sustainable? Their answer is reflected in the $42 million they've committed over the next three seasons. www.ajc.com/sports/atlan...
