Imagine if instead of chasing clicks by posting a high volume of content, you got more clicks because you posted a thought provoking piece that encouraged deep discussion within a community and thus caused them to bump your content often
Justin Moore (@justinm.one) reply parent
Honestly the death of the bump is probably a societal killer. It sounds like an exaggeration, but this is probably what causes all conversations on modern social media to be vapid, shallow, and ephemeral. Ideas must be built over time, and the bump resurfaces those ideas.
Chris Hayes (@chrislhayes.bsky.social) reposted
The most impressive thing about this campaign is how *creative* they are. They’re trying new stuff! Multiple times during the last few months I’ve thought “wow, I’ve never seen a campaign do that.” Much more of that needed everywhere.

I think this is another case of a credulous journalist failing to do their own research. About 70% of traffic from X is now bots, so they definitely are not "cracking down" on the problem. I RT'd the source of this claim a while back

How to modernize Newspeak: Make a social media network where you can only post pictures, and only allow simplistic interactions like liking them or posting short comments on them. Oh crap... I've just created Instagram
Justin Moore (@justinm.one)
I have an interesting observation: Pretty much all modern social media platforms do not let you bump discussion threads to keep them alive for longer than a day. Complex ideas take weeks and months to develop though. You know how 1984 had Newspeak that was designed to prevent critical thinking? Hmm

The reason why fundraising text read like scams is because they are. The political fundraising system has imported the tactics of elder financial fraud. These tactics are designed to filter out skeptics and specifically target and exploit seniors. 95% of scam PAC donors are 65+, costing > $500m.
