I took this picture myself at the CDC protest today. These are among the hundreds of bullet holes in CDC headquarters windows, visible from the street. I heard today that the admin has no urgent plan to fix these windows. Imagine being a CDC employee going to work under these conditions

I have never seen so many public servants protest the mismanagement of a government. Trumpists will point to this as proof of the deep state, but the reality is that these are professionals who are desperately trying to get the public to understand how bad things are.

i find this image so fascinating. it is both a literal example of authoritarianism but also a second-hand reproduction of the aesthetics of other authoritarian states. it's like a simulacra of authoritarianism whose purpose is to attempt to make the simulacra real.

Yet they essentially eliminated the *entire* institute (NIOSH) responsible for research on worker health and safety, and illness and injury prevention. Employer first, worker last.

I received postdoctoral training in the Toxicology and Molecular Biology branch at NIOSH in Morgantown. Incredible work going on there. These cuts are devastating. The entire health effects division? Gone. I am devastated for my colleagues and the future of occupational safety and health.
