This crime at Social Security might amount to the biggest data theft in human history. Committed by a government against its own citizens. I don’t think anyone has begun to grasp the sheer scale of corruption and institutional destruction that has occurred in the last few months. Era-defining.

From: Charles Borges, Chief Data Officer, Social Security Administration To: Frank Bisignano, Commissioner, Social Security Administration Subj: Forced Resignation from Social Security Administration I am regretfully involuntarily leaving my position at the Social Security Administration (SSA). This involuntary resignation is the result of SSA's actions against me, which make my duties impossible to perform legally and ethically, have caused me serious attendant mental, physical, and emotional distress, and constitute a constructive discharge. After reporting internally to management and externally to regulators serious data security and integrity concerns impacting our citizens' most sensitive personal data, I have suffered exclusion, isolation, internal strife, and a culture of fear, creating a hostile work environment and making work conditions intolerable. I have served this Country for almost my entire adult life, first as an Active-Duty Naval Officer for over 22 years, and now as a civil servant. I was deployed during 9/11, decorated for valor in combat during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and graduated from US Naval Test Pilot School. As a civil servant, I have served as a Presidential Innovation Fellow, in the Centers for Disease Control during COVID, within OMB on the Federal CIO Data Team, and now serve as the SSA Chief Data Officer (CDO). I have served in each of these roles with honor and integrity. As the SSA CDO, I am responsible for providing oversight and Governance to ensure the safety, integrity, and security of the public's data at SSA. My position requires full visibility into data access and exchange across all SSA systems and environments. My duties include ensuring compliance with federal data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements, as well as ensuring data is handled in accordance with internal and external policies, standards, and industry best practices. SSA data is among the most sensitive data in the Federal Government, and the CDO mus…

lol, this appellate judge just smacking Alan Dershowitz around like a little cat toy. www.documentcloud.org/documents/26...

Dershowitz, who no one disputes is a public figure, haspresented no evidence that CNN’s commentators or producersacted with actual malice. To begin, CNN has offered unrefutedevidence that its commentators believed in the truth of theirstatements about Dershowitz; all of the journalists testified thatthey believed their statements were fair and accurate. AndDershowitz did not counter that evidence. Instead, he repeated aboilerplate objection that the testimony was “scripted and self-serving.” Probably so. But that does not render it non-probative,and in the absence of contrary evidence, questioning the witnesses’ credibility is not enough to create a factual dispute. See Penley v.Eslinger, 605 F.3d 843, 853 (11th Cir. 2010).

What if scientists hadn’t waited until this point to speak about politics Every time I see a headline like this, my brain just shouts Like what if scientists hadn’t sat around silently watching everyone around them get attacked Maybe the fight on campus would have gone differently

Absolutely this. Speaking out sooner and supporting people could have prevented the shocking levels of protestors being harassed, attacked, abused, fired, sanctioned, even deported at universities. This is why the proverb exists: “In the end, everyone will have been against genocide” When it’s safe

Yawn. This headline claims way too much for what are--if you read the article--rather modest insights. Moreover, this "scientific" approach would have been impossible without the earlier scholarship of the French historian Georges Lefebvre. www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Monarez is playing her weak hand perfectly, and should be a model for institutional resistance for the next four years: 1. Make them fire you 2. Don’t go along to get along 3. Don’t apologize, have confidence in your own integrity and the importance of your role 4. Always escalate the conflict
