Despite all of the awful in the world (and being so exhausted I called out of work yesterday) I managed to grab just a bit of oomph to go learn a few line dances with my friends. As anxious as things make me, this brings me so much joy. Getting (mostly) a good night's sleep last night helped too.

NASA has spent decades working the problem and improving ways we can reach the diverse communities in our states. K-12, local community colleges, local tribal colleges - building expertise and supporting connections. Space Grant being defunded is heartbreaking and catastrophic.
I was a Space Grant recipient in 2017 - I could not have interned at NASA otherwise. It changed my life. When people say science is complicated or too hard to understand, that's where Space Grants come in. That money funds the communicators. That money makes it so we can build understanding.
I see a lot of people talking about how "we just need to explain science more to the public". The state Space Grant programs (one issued in each state) does incredible deep and wide outreach work - supporting education at every age and stage, nurturing science interest.
There’s an overwhelming number of awful things happening. My gentle suggestion is to consider attending a protest tomorrow if you can. In addition to exercising your rights, it can be helpful to be in a sea of people who share your values. MAGA has exploited this, and now it’s our turn.
