I always think back to Springfield, OH, as the biggest example of this. Springfield and the rural areas that surround it were declining economically for years. The town experienced a revival thanks to skilled Haitian immigrants. Look at how they were treated after having racist lies dumped on them.

Independents pretty much lean either right or left. As this graph shows Republicans are more likely over the last 25 years to have a more favorable view of anything their party leader does. Some independents who lean right are likely the same way.

I don't think this is entirely incorrect. Both Trump and Mamdani have won on offering lofty positions to their supporters, while Dems usually offer things that are doable but not flashy. Trump has never been able to offer up his. We have to wait and see on Mamdani.

There is always an ethical alternative to a candidate trying to deporting a plane full of children, cancelling healthcare for millions, and sending troops into cities.
How would you like them to fight? How can you make 213 bigger than 219 in the house? How can you make 47 bigger than 53 in the Senate? GOP can pass anything on party lines.
There is no magic button to prevent Trump from doing bad things. That choice was made in Novemeber and will be the case until 2026. The GOP has no votes you could pull away. Everyone of them is voting along party lines.
