I really find it odd when someone sends all of their kids to private (religious) school but is a school committee member for the public schools...and people vote for them.

I think all of the ones that are actually elected aren't disciplined enough to take the reigns in any competent fashion and I think they actually don't trust Miller et al enough to think that jackal won't somehow boot them.

My sister was two years behind me at the same university and stayed an extra year to get a second degree and she says that the classes below her were so much worse than ours (our university rapidly changed it's profile while we were there).

Healthcare is famous for not hiring anyone who doesn't have healthcare experience (or a direct degree)
and even outside of that, we have employees that are allegedly really good at certain things that just refuse to do other things and we...let them? Which puts pressure on everyone else.
Not that this is different than corporate America, but they tend to promote people who are good at a very specific thing to be managers, which they are not good at nor trained to be!

I work for a not for profit now and it's like I landed on the moon.
If someone tells me they have a master's degree, I know I'm in for like triple the training because those people tend to be absolutely useless at everything. No common sense, no reasoning ability, no logic. It's like those degrees suck it out of them.
I have had to fight tooth and nail to hire people without college degrees that are much more competent than certain people who have checked a bunch of boxes that have zero actual skill
