I remember going to the very first SPX and one of the only people I knew there was you! And you 'made' me sit down with my then comics and show them to Dave Sim. :D
"Three Horsemen." Made this based off a photo I took on the subway while visiting Boston. It's a typical site on the T. I suppose there's nothing special about it but it makes me think of a quiet moment before chaos. Or something.
These are all really fun and totally feel like they're 'from the era.' Well done!

I've been in a creative void for a bit; no spark. I WANT to make things, just haven't felt any direction. After rewatching a documentary on Alice Neel, I whipped these two out last night. Not my best, but at least I made SOMEthing.
Been sitting on this one for a long time as it was for a friend. It's based on his favorite place to sit in Harvard Square. Got a little nudge of what direction to go in thanks to watching a documentary on Mark Rothko. Procreate, Affinity Designer.

Me and my partner at the local Ren Faire. I'm the orc on the left, Basher, and he's Corso. We both melted but had a great time handing out trinkets and taking photos.

This weekend opens orc season! My partner and I have been going as orcs to the local ren faire for about ten years now. Always good to make sure the armor still fits...and that it's hot and smells. My orc's name is Basher.
Working on the style for the next track of "The City Silent." There are SO many of these things for the comic. Lots and lots of design things. Even when they fail, they're fun to do.

While I am now mostly a digital artist, there are decades of drawing pads, three full flat files of sketches and finished inked drawings and file cabinet drawers of more of all of that. I will likely never get around to scanning it all.
While I like the colors in the second one, the characters are no longer brought forward and don't feel as much the focus as they do in the first one.

Trying to get outside my own head for the next section of "The City Silent." What started out as a kind of weakness, my inability to stick to one style, has become a storytelling element. At least I hope it has.

My main character has close to 7,000 logins. It's such a ritual that my partner and I log in and role-play every night that we really feel the loss on nights we can't. Might seem silly as we live in the same house. We've never found anything to replace it.
While the Muck isn't where the fandom started, it was central to it and is the reason it grew to what it is now. There was such a thrill getting to meet the player behind the character. The mucks had intimate moments, drama, chat. All of it was done in text.
Was very sorry to hear of the passing of Tugrik, one of the original admins for FurryMuck. That's how I got involved in all this stuff back with my first boyfriend in 1995. Each night, I'd log on and role-play with friends and strangers. Thing is my partner and I still do.

Here's all of track 11 of "The City Silent." This track is mostly internal, colors duller as Silas is unsure of himself at the beginning. As he gets more confident, there's a splash of bright color kind of like a bang. At least, I hope it comes off that way.

FWIW, I never do them because drawing the same thing twice or three times just bores me. That being said, I think there's real value in it, I just can't think that way. I compose in the moment. Composition is nearly my last step.

Last one of these, I think. All acrylic. The middle one, "Bracken," was big, 24"x36", I think and someone bought him. I think the cubist horse got damaged and was tossed. Somewhere, there's a version of the otter in crayon that I liked better.

Still going through some old stuff as I've had trouble getting motivation to work on the comic lately. These were all acrylic paintings. The first one sold, the other three I think were tossed at some point. Part of me misses working with real paint.

Scott, you are agile of mind in MANY things.
Back when I first started making comics, the goal was to get them into print, even if it was print on demand. There's one missing; the short stories collection as I never made a print version, but these are all my comics that actually came in hard comics. The Tamino book is a cheat. There's only 3.
I am very disappointed: I HATE AI. I honestly think that it has far more potential to do harm for humans than good. That being said, I opened the lyrics for "The City Silent" in Adobe Reader and let it try and summarize my cryptic comic. It friggin' nailed it.

Just for fun, I tried to do a digital recreation of an old painting, "Miko." It looks simple enough but was more complex than I thought. Also, I can't see the details well enough in my lousy photo to really know what's there and what's not. So, this is as close as I can get.

A few more from the past. 'Mosh' might have been one of my first tries with graffiti. I know I gave away the two cheetahs. The other two I think got tossed. Such is life. All were acrylic on panel, 16x20.

Y'all have been so kind, looking at my old abstract stuff, I thought I'd dig through the closet to see what I had left. Not much. The first two are a lion character named Eddie. Next, the blue cat painting, was called, "Just One More," and the final is a VERY abstract Lucco from my comic, "Fite!"
Oh! I saw that blue and yellow tiger and I was confused because I was sure I did that as a commission of some kind! And that explains it. Sorry, it's been awhile. :D

Someone asked below if I was going to dig one of the old paintings up. I found two within easy reach. The first one is "Mercury," and was done of my husband's character. The other one was called "Dukes," and SO predates my mice characters. They're both 16x20, acrylic on canvas and masonite.
I dug out a couple and am about to post new photos of them. And thank you!

I don't think the ballerina was mine as I've never done a ballerina but I did do a club-dancing cat that was very angular and very abstract. In any case, thanks so much for the kind words! They really mean a lot.

Haven't drawn anything in forever and really didn't have a lot of time tonight, but I miss drawing. So I threw this together just to get something down on 'paper.'
FWIW, I we t through the surgery close to 7 years ago and it was my first procedure ever. I was very nervous, especially when I was being wheeled into the operating room. But you know what? It was the easiest thing ever. I was actually eager to get the second eye done.
