I know the moment we put ours on I'll want to play Skyrim. It's become a Pavlovian response in me.
The last time I was this excited about a fantasy world's lore was when I was learning about A Song of Ice and Fire's Valyria, Asshai and the Land of Always Winter.
I think my favourite thing about the lore of this world is that their ancient past is also our distant future, and it's super fun to try and see how things might get where they are now, to thousands of years in the future, to thousands more after the fall of that civ to the events of the books.
This is like when my earphones autoplay a YouTube video as I connect them and I'm sometimes jumpscared by the sound of my own voice
I've just remembered I got The World of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time (The Big White Book of Bad Art, Paperback Edition, Art Removed Lmao) for my birthday and I've not read it yet *pushes aside current reads* NOW IS THE TIME

I think my favourite thing is how much of a deconstruction of edgy superhero tropes it is. It's Nightwing's story but he's not alone. He has help. He has a partner he actually communicates with. Secret identity shenanigans aren't a binary equation. And he still kicks ass.
I just finished Tom Taylor's Nightwing and it was seven volumes of everything I have ever wanted from a Nightwing story. SO. GOOD.

Besides that, excellent so far, I'm two parts in.
I've started reading Far Sector, a Green Lantern story about a world where emotions have been removed so as to maintain peace and bring about a utopia. But... everyone clearly still has a full range of emotions? But it's treated like they don't? I am having a hard time getting past that.
Sometimes I feel like I read video titles and general marketing stuff as so presumptive that it's something I'm looking for or care about and it makes me laugh and everyone else seems to think it is normal and then I feel like a weirdo

It's not a huge problem, I can still read and enjoy it, but it does feel like something was lost in translation here. But also I've flipped through my final Compact, Wonder Woman: Earth One, and that looks fantastic across the board.
I've made a start on my second Compact Comic, Far Sector, and I'm sad to say this one seems to have been adapted imperfectly to this format. Some pages look a little ink soaked with blurry text, and the protagonist's translucent green text boxes suffer for it.
I just realised I've spent this whole time confused because I thought she was called Cassandra Cain (another Batwoman btw) but she is called Kate Kane which is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT So people were talking about Kate and I thought they meant someone else fml

Finished Batwoman: Elegy (Compact Comics). Really enjoyed it! Will probably do a video on it tomorrow because I have lots of thoughts but I'm glad it was my first Batwoman story. Feels like there's some before and a lot of after, but for the most part it's a solid book by itself.
