This is an extremely basic point, but one that bears repeating: in a law-governed society, the state cannot simply murder people it has identified as potential criminals. It does not matter if those alleged criminals are foreigners. If you illegally kill people, you have committed murder.

For what it’s worth, in California most fed courts seem to demand in person. State courts still leaning heavily towards video. And mediations are often hybrid or all video.
It’s also bad for the environment. And for clients. Why pay your attorney an hourly rate to sit in traffic to drive downtown for often what amounts to a five minute status conference?
Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.

Turns out that NPR and PBS' pandering to the right still didn't save their funding. Maybe there's a lesson here for media that think that tilting to the right will spare them from accusations of "liberal bias."
I'd just like to point out how weird it is that places with hundreds or even thousands of reporters — the NYT, WaPo, CBS, NBC, AP, etc. — are all getting pummeled on every major story by the dozen computerboys at Wired. To fumble the bag this consistently is, at some point, cowardice and a choice.
By 2030, 1 in 4 women in developed countries will remain childfree. Up to 45% will be single by choice. Society will frame this as a crisis. Governments will panic over birth rates. This is about choice though… It's about women walking away from the roles that kept men comfortable and powerful.
I encourage everyone to read this letter. Please then realize the president is imposing a tax on American consumers to leverage a foreign nation into making a domestic political decision that will help one of his political allies.
