Everyone has different thresholds before fight or flight kicks in, but I'm a middle aged woman who has ridden the subway for 25 years and have never felt more than concern that a situation was going to cause a delay.

Have you seen Merchants of Doubt? It explores the comms strategy for the tobacco and fossil fuels industries. In those cases, the goal was never to convince anyone per se, but to keep the debate going so they had freedom to operate while their opponents debunk claims. tubitv.com/movies/10003...

It could be a Gen Z thing, but I wouldn't use the word fault. Only the oldest among them reached adulthood pre-pandemic. I'd still rather see them a tad under-socialized than starting life with long-COVID, but I don't think we do them any favors by not acknowledging that those years had no effect.

They can't say "Brown" or complain that he's not sufficiently connected to NY machine politics. They can't criticize his policies without making more NYers aware of them. They're kind of stuck with the experience angle.

I meant their political instincts regarding voters which is evident in their not fighting Trump harder. But, wait, you say they're fighting for donors over constituents!? This is not something that I've heard anything about in my 47 active political years! This is valuable use of both our time!

There's a phrase I learned in NYC, "don't waste good worry." What gifts are they even bringing other than an acknowledgement that they're not in the pole position here? I pray they DON'T offer direct campaign support. Their instincts are terrible for this moment. Fastest route to Mayor Sliwa.

Unpopular opinion, but good for them. I'm not saying they deserve a cookie, but they didn't clown themselves in the lead-up, and they're not being jerks now. I still hope Schumer gets primaried, but I don't see this development as bad.
