Opposition to a #WealthTax— brought to you by those who think workers' rights have "gotten ridiculous." What's ridiculous is the idea that someone with £15million would leave the country over £100k. That's 0.67% of their wealth, equivalent to £300 if you had £50k. They wouldn't even notice it.

Reform is made up exclusively of unserious, irresponsible, race-baiting grifters, hoping to be swept to power on a wave of vengeful ignorance and an absence of any scrutiny. If they were held to account - by papers like the Times - then maybe they’d be nowhere. And certainly not eyeing up peerages.

So you count a new role as a pay rise, and count April 2024 and 2025 pay rises as one year. I'm also in NHS. 3.6% promised in April but we won't get it till end of August, so effectively no pay rise since April 2024 -before labour. Plus inflation is 3.6 percent, so no net increase at all.

Not saying I agree with it, but I am guessing it's because washing top half is generally easier because less reaching/standing/balancing, so if you can't do that then you are likely to be *more* disabled so it has more points.

I keep hearing politician say that the disability benefits system ‘isn’t working’. Isn’t it? That depends on how you define ‘working’. Do you define it as ‘is it helping disabled people’ rather than ‘is it costing the government too much money’ you’ll get quite different answers.

It’s because Nigel Farage wants to be able to offer everything, without the promise of delivering anything.

We have a 50% serious genetic deadly disease in my family that starts around 35 and the decision whether to test and to know is something that is absolutely not to be taken lightly

As long as they dont actually treat all the known and treatable conditions we have right now it is such bullshit. Plus what do you do with this information, most of the time nothing. Plus people also have the right to not know about their genetic disease burden.

Some major causes of ill health such as some cancers and diabetes do have a heritable component, but what exactly would genomic testing add here? Genuine question. Would the advice given to someone not mostly be the same as to anyone, around healthy lifestyles?

“health care free at the point of risk, not just need” is a nice sound bite from Wes, but I fear it will be used to justify shovelling money at biotech & private testing companies, for tests of dubious clinical benefit. Would love to know @mgtmccartney.bsky.social’s thoughts.
