This wouldn't be piracy. They can just crack open the ROM files themselves rather than rely on internet copies. This is the deep research in FAQs to track character behavior and the mechanics. This is more saying stop using Discords and starting making your own websites for wiki/guides again.

It's the reason why I've drawn the Contact/Antitype tragedy so much and with such focus. I wanna see more of this kind of fanart!
Off the top of my head I can't think of a single other time I've ever seen any fanart for XB that has tackled depicting this kind of horror that the Xeno series has always had. Ofc XB has the least amount of horror in the series, but still, it's so rare to find anyone focusing in on those moments!
This is one of those examples where like—it just goes to show you don't have to execute ART GOD LEVELS of rendering in order to make what someone might consider a masterpiece. Just have a vision and DO IT.
Was about to ask around to find this back because I thought about it again. Still think this is one of the most amazing fanarts for Xenoblade I've seen, go show it some love. The execution is ON POINT, those are some Xenosaga levels of body horror being beautifully, artistically depicted right there

He's still difficult to draw, admittedly. I've consistently had a hard time with drawing both Id and Ziggy, in particular
speaking of things hidden in CSP files or whatever, I looked at this old one's *timelapse* and found this which I'd completely forgotten about 😄 iirc, this stage of the timelapse was what was done probably way back in 2023 or something. (that Ziggy needed work lol)
I generally dislike the term "non-artist" bc it sounds icky, but at the same time I'm sat here wondering how to easily say "people who dont make art" without it sounding derogatory or w/e. idk
Thing is, it's primarily non-artists using AI to try and scam other non-artists who are just trying to enjoy peoples' art. They're banking on other non-artists not being familiar enough with what legitimate WIPs and timelapses look like in order to fool them.
Those AI fakers try to recreate what they think an art process looks like with the AI tools they have. And not being actual artists themselves they don't even know that it doesn't even look convincing and has obvious tells.
Oh yeah, and there's this partial timelapse of it as well. You'll see clear progression of the person working things through, you won't be seeing things pop into existence with no clear structure happening beforehand.

Partial timelapse of that one can be seen here, btw. I'd streamed some of it after playing Pied Piper. Not trying to prove that I actually drew this or w/e, I think the fact that it isn't AI is pretty obvs, it was just a good example w/many layers, one that I also just happened to partially stream
Like that sketch at the end? Until recording that just now I had completely forgotten that this piece of art was initially inspired by Tanaka's rough sketch of what looked to be Fei, Elly, and Rico(?) (that image that you can see there at the end, under everything else)
This master file (among many others) are available to all my ko-fi supporters to download; you can pick through all the layers, see everything that went unused, see old sketches buried in there that I completely forgot about, etc.
Ofc how I do things is just one way of doing things, everyone layers differently. And this is primarily a lineart/cel shaded layering style. But yeah, dont be fooled by their nonsensical timelapses where elements keep appearing out of thin air & disappearing over & over again in a very choppy manner
Was thinking about fake AI "art processes" again, both fake timelapses & fake WIP images they use to try to fool people, and thought I'd do a short video dissecting one of my pieces to give non-artists a good idea of what legit layering actually looks like if you keep most of your layers
That first screenshot was mine when playing it for the first time. So glad I didn't make the same mistake I made with XG when I played XS bc widescreen XS looks particularly awful

Putting all that emotional energy into freaking out over smtn like that'd be so tiring, wouldnt accomplish anything positive, would only serve to stir up drama and make ppl pissed (including myself) so idk why ppl do it I got no time for that, there's so much shipping art to make and so little time

Another reason I think its best to play Pied Piper before Xenosaga 2: You get to know Canaan better throughout 2&3. Instead of playing 2 like "new character, who dis? Eh he kinda boring idk" instead it's like "'CANAAN'?!? EXCUSE ME!???" from the very start & super interested in seeing where it goes

But then you read the original and its like oh— "a wolf embraced by darkness, Red eyes and white fangs gifted from the god of death, Throat moistened with its own blood, A coat of arms where only pride and loneliness shine through", I know who that wolf is.
They did a great job adapting his lyrics to work in EN though. Sucks that so much of Small Two was cut, like an entire section of the bridge, but needing to cut it down like that also made it more poetic sounding? Like, its meaning isnt entirely easy to ascertain, can be interpreted different ways.
-"And the girl of the dawn with eyes of blue and angel wings, the songs of the season are her only crown" The only thing with this line being that I really love "singing in the summer of fire, dancing in the golden autumn" but it had to be cut down to "songs of the season"
or Small Two's lyrics, I really love how they adapted this line— "A girl newly born, steeped in the red of dawn, blue eyes and white wings that even angels envy, singing in the summer of fire, dancing in the golden autumn, only freedom and longing sparkle in her crown" //
It's so neat seeing the parallels in the lyrics. "Too beautiful to forget the distant song of a captive angel" // "The song remains like a haunting melody of angel music held in chains" like "much too beautiful to forget" being changed to "haunting", it works well as a single-word substitution

Like all of that has got nothing to do with him, he's just a doctor. He's got a day(/night) job, pays the bills, gets married, tries for kids, just a normal dude living in the big city.
I just love the idea of him living out his life like a normal person (about as normal as one who discovers nanotechnology can be), looking in on these discoveries of Gears and Slave Generators from outside of it all.

The pilot manuals are small enough and have the right kind of binding to where I think I'll be able to do full scans of these without having to take them apart (like thicker magazines would need) and without damaging them at all.
