I am bad at checking, but sure!

Colm Wilkinson: things I have used to explain to my children how bad #Eurovision was in the past. I say this as a stan for ‘The Lady’s Got Potential.’

Jesus, for real - if I could just send in Lego sets, people would get it. They *kind of* get the Pokemon stuff, but not the books that go with it. Ditto Percy Jackson, but at least we had a summer class for that.

Despite being ‘from PA,’ I know nothing about American football…but if we can make it A Thing, here for it! I do enjoy ice hockey…
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com)
Back in the day, when I did a ‘workplace culture metrics’ thing at Zappos, the key early-warning sign for everyone was ‘how well are you protecting and uplifting Black trans women?’ For many global workplaces, that ship has sailed/sunk.

Or the peculiar facial expressions. Like, we are cool with them because we’ve have them from birth, but normals may find them off-putting.
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com) reply parent
Feel like we should be able to just submit a video of the smaller one Rubiks Cubing while walking, really.
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com)
Please review my very differently weirdly neurodiverse offspring…are both ADHD? Likely. Is one also on an autism spectrum? Also likely, but we can’t get anyone to say so.
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com) reply parent
I didn’t realize I say it - great point!
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com) reply parent
So! Hope have done a collab with Tortured Souls Brewing Company of Pittsburgh….there’s an NFL game at Croke Park at the end of Sept, it’s basically for that. Am sending my PA-born child out to sell cookies to American attendees on game day.
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com)
Look, you tell me there’s a partially PA-brewed beer on tap in town and I *will* show up. #HumanRobotToDublin when?
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com) reply parent
They do have a good track record on folk and folk-adjacent stuff, tho…nice to see Martin Carthy there. And the Pulp record is fab. But yeah, awards are generally a bit of back-patting.

And I'm 100% sure it wouldn't understand any sort of diacritic-y things - too bad so sad if someone has a name with Irish spelling!
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com)
And as we get into Spooky Season, I am very much on the lookout for local pubs with good ghostlore. There aren't as many as you would think! Both little-known and well-traveled stories are most welcome. #SpeirGorm
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com)
Will do the proper sharing around tomorrow, but for you people who pay attention here, this week's latest Dublin pub is up: #SpeirGorm www.weirdodublinpubs.com/weirdo-guide...
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com)
DYK it now takes 3 separate sites and payments to get your kid re-registered for soccer with an FAI-affiliated team? And that one of those registrations is so complex they send a PDF to show you how to do it...but it still doesn't seem to understand kids/parents w/different surnames.
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com)
Been trying to figure out if we can register to vote in this election as brand-new citizens (as of next week!), but assuming we won't have our certs in time to prove we're real people for this go-round...
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com)
Always relevant to my interests...the Carlsberg tour is so good now!

Presumably somewhere back in the distant family, but her particular litter was a mix of all sorts of colours.

First run in about 10 days today as one knee had been feeling a bit off; fortunately, all seems well today, felt really good to be out and about...and beat the rain! Have much more brainspace for work with that bit of movement done...

I'd always see her near Archway...I worked at Time Out (frankly, the best job in the world for a young person in the 1990s) and more often than not, we'd be on at the same time on my way to or from. It was so cool!
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com)
My colleague felt that my shoulders could use more puncture marks during my meeting. She’s happy enough with her own chair now, though.

I used to see Miki on the Tube all the time in 96-97 - we must have had the same commute!

Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com) reply parent
I don't know - went back yesterday and it was gone, haven't had a chance to check today tp see if there's a new one, but it would be great to see an article in the Journal or similar.
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com)
Fun fact about one of my finds from the Drumcondra Book Skip - I had been looking for a copy of this after listening to the recent @backlisted.bsky.social ep & had no luck, and then there it was in the pile. It’s dried off now!
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com) reply parent
Oh, I fixed it. I worked at HP during Carly's reign of terror and none of the printers there ever worked without 'prompting,' despite that being their key product, so very much used to that sort of thing.
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com) reply parent
Went back today and the skip was gone, hope another comes as was rumoured. It was like a bookish street festival, got some excellent titles.
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com)
There was a not-dissimilar embarrassment with the Dublin Marathon medal, too, with the bogus Yeats quote…but I do quite like my Great North Run medal from last year, it was a nice one.
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com)
Another bonus of the Royal Canal Greenway being back open: I can see weird new (or new-to-me) graffiti around Croke Park.
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com) reply parent
And Martyn Green, of course! I used to go in and bug the special collections folk to see his papers and so on, long before I ended up in a similar role myself.

You really do get the ick from him!

Didn’t get any of these ads for a few weeks, but this guy and his teeth are back all over my feed, everywhere. Do people *pay* for these webinars, as he implies?

I'm not the biggest fan of chicken fillet rolls...I mean, they are fine, but I don't *crave* them. Maybe that will change!
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com) reply parent
Nearly there, cheers!
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com) reply parent
Got it to work! On a related note, I felt really unwell after eating a Kraft mac & cheese last night from a previous trip back to the US...will my body no longer be able to manage American junk food, once I officially become Irish? Was this a preview?
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com)
Printing out my (and the older offspring's) Declaration of Fidelity for our naturalization ceremonies next week. Or rather, I would be if our printer wanted to play along...
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com) reply parent
LOL, that would be a good one! I'm always lamenting the lack of pub ghostlore here, there must be stories that people simply aren't telling.
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com) reply parent
Yep. At least it looks like an 'older' building...The Brazen Head here in Dublin doesn't even try, just paints the date outside. It is, well, *brazen* indeed (which is a shame, as there is an interesting history to the name, at least, as well as the street). www.weirdodublinpubs.com/weirdo-guide...

Just realized it was the Great North Run today…had a fab time doing it last year, despite the weather, hope it was better for this year’s runners. Still my best race photo?
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com)

Her particular litter was all sorts of different colours - think she was the only pointed one. They were all adorable!

James mentions it his book (and the blog linked just there), but I don’t know if there’s anything focusing specifically on it. People *really* want to believe (see also: The Brazen Head).

It’s all quite sad, was told the owner of the house died and his relatives couldn’t get anyone to take them (though also, not surprised as an ex-librarian). There are some real gems, even a few first editions, it’s well worth a look.
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com) reply parent
Apparently it will likely be going all week, with even more books being added.
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com) reply parent
There were so many books on book collecting and printing, too…much have been well-known at all the usual spots.
Lisa Grimm (@lisagrimm.com)
More of what I picked up…the Sylvia Townsend Warner and a few others were rather more damp, so are drying off elsewhere. The ‘Julius Caesar’ is a Ladybird book!

More on the Royal Canal Greenway path: love seeing the numbered stones being back in their places on the bridge, but wish the old Mountjoy Brewery buildings got similar treatment.

I've been thinking along similar lines. The reliance on genAI vs other kinds of AI will mean absolute floods of junk content/data, and sifting through *that* to find the good stuff, even with automation, will need an understanding of structured content/data/etc...or it'll never get fixed.
