When I was a Girl Scout, I was taught that burning the flag was the respectful way to dispose of one that was tattered. But then, we also weren't supposed to leave flags out in the rain, and if they were flying at night, a light was supposed to illuminate them.
If you have flowers in pots, put them low in the garage so the hummingbird can see them. They like red salvia, so if you have some in a pot, move it to the garage. If you have a hummingbird feeder, put it in too. We did this a couple of years ago and it worked!
Here in northern Michigan, we'll get them until the first week of October. So a few more changes for us!

This is why we need public media. I did not see coverage of the Anchorage protests in the #VichyMedia @nytimes.com or @washingtonpost.com Alaska media covered it, but the only national media that did a story was @usatoday.com. @yahoonews.com ran a story that originally appeared in the Telegraph.
Not to mention, he got a red carpet rolled out for him at a U.S. military base. I wonder what intel they got as his plane landed at JBER?

It seems like tragedies like this one -- tornadoes, hurricanes, floods -- seem to affect poor people disproportionately. Many of them probably voted for Republicans, against their own best interests, but I still feel for them.
Sounds very familiar! "But I just had it!" and "It can't have gone far!" One autumn, I stuck a pair of scissors I had been using into my husband's work boot in the garage -- just so it was safe and out of the way. I didn't find them until the following spring when he needed to wear them again.🙄

And I get it. I feel powerless to stop what's going on. Protesting isn't really making a dent; we need to gum up everything to get their attention. People have to be willing to sacrifice.
I'm not afraid. (But then, I am retired, so I don't have to worry about a losing a job.) And I am not afraid to be arrested. I just don't know that enough people would be willing to participate and potentially make that sacrifice in a general strike to make everything come to a standstill.
I keep hoping, but I think too many people actually like what's going on for a general strike to happen. And many people who don't like what's going on can't afford to miss work, or be arrested themselves.

You can already do it, assuming you have an iPhone. Go to "Settings" on your iPhone, choose "Apps", then choose "Text Message Forwarding." Assuming you are signed on to the same account on your iPhone and your Mac, your Mac will show up as an option. Switch the toggle to "on" (green). That's it!
I never did any of these things, but I do know how teaching can be improved: (1) pay teachers more, a lot more, (2) hire more teachers, and (3) let them teach. I was always amazed and humbled by my kids’ teachers’ capabilities and compassion. We seriously undervalue the profession.
