I also had to read out loud in front of a HS quiz bowl team the word “facetious.” An ordinary word that I suddenly, inexplicably, became worried I’d been mispronouncing my whole life. I haven’t, it was fine, but the insta-panic was real ha.

Yesterday I said I “apparently eschew directional responsibility today” meaning I did not remember where we parked the car one single time in all of our errands 🤣. DH had to pick up my slack & remember the parking or I’d still be wandering the parking lots.

Extra pic of the corgis today. My youngest spent the summer here with us but headed off to South Korea this morning for the rest of the year. I’ll be a little anxious until he’s all settled into his lodging which will take a few days.

It took some practice! Early weeks/months I’d stand between them & then remove Daisy with cuddles & kisses when she finished so she couldn’t swipe Posie’s & start a kerfuffle. Fortunately all that practice created nice habits.

The corgis have big plans today starting with chewing these yummy bones #corgicrew
And tennis in the middle grades-I forgot ha! Man we really did explore! I suggested continuing tennis on the hs team but swim & climbing were chosen(& theatre & science olympiad & deca ha) - there’s so much to choose from! Don’t feel limited to the traditional sportballs if they’re not a fit!
To add, my boys were very athletic & one is very competitive! They were still able to enjoy a rich sports life w/o the demands of the travel/club worlds.
Oh-I forgot ultimate frisbee in middle grades - that was pretty fun :). Swim was great for us bc summer & hs team were open to everyone. There was so much support. The club swimmers were cheering for the slow swimmers pb’s in their heats just as loudly. The boys still climb as young men.
After the initial foray into soccer/ball/flag we quickly learned we belonged in a “compete with yourself while in the company of & cheering on others” kind of sports. Swim & climb I didn’t introduce until maybe 12ish just due to the shouldery-ness. But those are also the ones that stuck.

I was coming here to say similar. My boys played rec soccer, tball/coach pitch, & flag football at various times in their early years. TKD steadily elementary & middle grades. Swim (summer & hs team - not club swim) & rock climbing/bouldering (gym & outdoors) in hs.
This brings back a memory of my young adult son sending me a video of himself bouldering. All seemed normal then a loud crack that was his shoulder tearing 🤢

Yes! I was coming here to say this & glad it’s already been said. I cried every time I thought of Lucy for about a year. No exaggeration. And I thought about her a lot. Eventually I could smile at her memory but it took a really long time. I just loved her so much. Give yourself grace!
