Me too, but if they crash the cost of gpu compute industry wide, you might actually see some crazy work on things like fluid dynamics (or any engineering field that can parallelize hard problems) get done that might actually benefit the public.
Maybe we can get back to doing scientifically useful computing but we just spent the last half decade putting the smartest people at using this hardware towards lying chatbots so I'm not that hopeful.

I have a gravel bike with two wheelsets so I can choose between 32mm road tires and 42mm knobbies which is pretty neato.
There's definitely some decision paralysis but you can basically get a gravel bike at whatever level of mtb you want, eg. Borderline cx bike with 35mm tires or full suspension monster with 50mm tires and a flat bar that is basically a cross-country bike.
Gravel bikes are like a parallel evolutionary line that split off from 2010's road bikes whereas mountain bikes are from an older genera. Watching gravel bikes evolve to be closer and closer to a mountain bike is funny because it's basically following early mountain bike trends.
Not only are they collectively delusional but they are probably literally talking to each other.

So the solution is to throw another team of vc funded idiots at the problem and see if you can get the marketshare rather than having to think deeply through every user interaction and concurrent data flow.
It's really hard to cultivate the kind of experience required to build very polished distributed software (eg most web apps). Like it's impossible to replace software like the linux kernel or javascript because working through every bullshit edge case again would cost billions.
So much of this is also just built into the industry at this point. Mastery and polish are not prioritized over shipping something now and most of this shit is being written by fresh grads in their twenties. Experienced people are pushed into management or out of the industry.

From what I remember from articles about it, OpenAI released the most sycophantic version of GPT-4o for a few weeks before they reverted the change with a "haha oopsie!" post. It's easy to underestimate the impact of that kind of change but this company is destroying lives with this shit.

My own neurodivergence involves intrusive thoughts. Imagine just spiraling with a machine designed to slavishly agree with the user and tell them they're right. Just absolute mental health poison.

I think Dungeon Meshi, Frieren, and Tower Dungeon all do this in their own way. Dungeon Meshi goes all in on the ecology of the dungeon, Frieren has great character writing and magic, and Tower Dungeon has Nihei's usual body horror and fun characters.
It is a masterwork of cohesion. My only criticism is that there's not a lot of backtracking and exploration compared to other metroidvania games, but in return you get an incredible level of polish and thoughtful design fit into its own scope. It's just really elegant.
I played through most of (I think?) Öoo on a plane ride and it's just a really nice game. The way it brain worms the mechanics into your head is really cool and it manages to pull a surprising amount of variety out of simple mechanics. It's as complex as it needs to be and not an inch more.

I can recommend the Night Lords omnibus by ADB or either Eisenhorn or Gaunt's Ghosts by Abnett. The Emperors' Gift by ADB is also a good starting point. The lore is vast so there's a lot of shlock but there's also a lot of good stuff.
Supposedly rogue trader by owlcat is a solid crpg. Some of the better character writing in the setting can be found in books, particularly anything by Aaron Dembski Bowden or Dan Abnett.

One advantage of chains is that spare parts are plentiful and cheap and are a known quantity to every mechanic. Some of the crazier touring riders have Shimano groups specifically because bike shops in places like rural Argentina have chains for them.
