For sure! People will always find ways around stuff like that. Imo, if youâre concerned about minors watching porn, the better approach is to talk with them about how porn can be problematic (unrealistic, problems in the industry etc). Have those talks in sex ed in school for instance!
This always happens when you try to put these kind of laws into place. You end up restricting access to platforms that are not dangerous/inappropriate. And you pretty much always restrict access to info about LGBTQI+, sexual health etc too. Info young people also need.
Unfortunately, Bluesky is unavailable in Mississippi right now, due to a new state law that requires age verification for all users. While intended for child safety, we think this law poses broader challenges & creates significant barriers that limit free speech & harm smaller platforms like ours.

The board + HR have narrowed it down to a handful of candidates, and I got to read their applications today and give input for the first interview. Then I get to be part of the second interviews. Which is good! But it also feels kinda weird.

As some of you all might know, I work at a local branch of an NGO. We are 6 project managers and one operations manager (our boss), plus a board (theyâre not employed - itâs a volunteer gig). And a bunch of volunteers. The operations manager is quitting, so weâre recruiting a replacement.
