The problem we have is that vaccines are so effective that most of us don’t remember the days when these diseases caused terrible consequences and grifters/demagogues have taken advantage. My great aunt lost two kids in a week to diphtheria and a great uncle had a withered leg due to polio #vaccines

Yep. Most democrats are too weak and timid. Still think the electorate wants bipartisanship and totally beholden to political consultants and media talking heads. The right wing parties here and there are extremist and fascistic. You can’t negotiate with that you fight it in every way you can.

I think democracy dies in the same way that Ernest Hemingway described how you go bankrupt: “gradually, then suddenly” They are well along the gradual stage and I think the suddenly bit is right around the corner. And there are lots cheering this on that won’t be cheering soon, there and here.

There is a long tradition of great politicians shaping public opinion rather than being led by it. Our Prime Minister chases policies from focus groups and the right wing press like a cat chasing a fucking laser pen. And all it does it legitimise the far right to the general public.
