So it turns out I wasn't totally imagining that I couldn't function and needed to sleep 12-14 hours a day when I quit smoking, and it's because of my hashimoto's. Nobody ever thought to warn me that it could fuck with my thyroid so much when I quit! What are doctors even FOR

For the record, if my most recent ex ever approached you asking for money because the kiddo was sick or needed anything major, that my kiddo hasn't been sick since 2020 and his healthcare is paid for by MN until he turns 18, and none of the fundraising was actually for our child's needs.

There's a 15 foot tall pile of reasons why I absolutely hate interfacing with schools at all, and at least 5 feet of that pile comes from people forcing me to self-ABA while I was a child instead of just saying things clearly.
Maybe she's just trying to be clever, but I am begging anybody in the Minneapolis public School system who works with autistic children to make more of an effort to understand the very common literal thinking that autistic people have, instead of expecting us to self-ABA.
Just got an email from somebody in the special ed department for MPS letting us know when we can expect our IEP meeting and she ended it with "have a decent day" and I just want to know what I ever did to her that I don't deserve a *good* day.

My kid hates that. We tend to not eat a lot of bread because I'm not supposed to eat bread that doesn't crunch (think seeds, nuts, very whole grains, high fiber) and nobody else likes serious bread so it's not something we keep around or work into meals and snacks much unless it's jam calendar time!

I actually find the smell of really old dust and fuzz that happens the first time we turn the furnace on for the year to be comforting. Way better than the similar smell of hot Electrolux vacuum.

I never leave the ringer on my phone and I don't use voicemail so you kind of have to call me at the exact time I'm looking at my phone or you're SOL. Every time I turn my ringer on in anticipation of a call, I jump out of my skin when the phone rings like some kind of cartoon.
And it was about something expensive and frustrating and I didn't even get upset?!?! I had to talk with the national customer service, and the local store customer service. TWO customer services before 9:00AM. What the *fuck*? I usually outsource this job.
I wish my doctor had listened to me about the metformin because I woke up at 8:30 today and called customer service bout something *before coffee* like some kind of motherfucking wizard!?

Today I realized the gigantic brass pineapple door knocker one of my best friends in high school gave me when his parents changed it out was either 1- meant to indicate to others that they were swingers, or 2- they just thought pineapples were neat and got rid of it when they were informed later.
One of the most hardcore dares that you could give anybody where I grew up was to drink milk out of the bulk tank and almost nobody ever did it because everybody knew you could get really really sick doing it. I did it once and then the kid freaked out so bad that they got in trouble for daring me!

I grew up in an area with a lot of Amish/ Mennonite people and a lot of small family farms, and one of our neighbor ladies had to boil milk almost as fast as their cow would make it. Almost every time I saw her at her house, she was stirring milk.
The last delivery person that showed up from them was actually doing it through doordash. I don't understand how it's all connected but he showed up and apologized profusely cause doordash was yelling at him for being late and I was like dude I didn't order you through doordash, and you aren't late!
(we have to tear out some edging paver things and move one 1/3 of it into a different shape to create a wide, safe path. Right now our mail carrier has to step down from one side of our front walk and then up on the opposite side and I always worry about them getting hurt.
We are gearing up to fix something that has been weird about our front yard since before we bought this house, it's going to be a huge set of quality of life improvements for our mail carrier, mostly, but it's also going to be easier for me to get around so everyone wins!

The town I went to school in was so small that they were still doing the noon whistle in the center of town in the 2010s and it was widely accepted that when the noon whistle sounded, that was first shift lunch break town wide!
Shitloads. By May of 2023, we had a pretty large cluster of users on here, it wasn't as big as the Brazilian Swifties', but it was pretty impressive for a long time. We had one really good goose/person in particular hand out as many codes as they could, and we helped each other make the move.
Honestly, I really love the amount of siren awareness. I like to think that if the apocalypse actually happens, and we all have to scatter to the four corners, online twin cities people will be able to find each other by simply looking like a huge dork in a public square once a month.

It's just an incredible stroke of luck that our skill sets complement each other so well. It makes me feel very happy to give back to them in ways that I can, that are useful, and to have such a specifically useful to them skill set makes me feel so included in ways I haven't felt for a long time.
I'm really thankful to have neighbors that are becoming really good friends who are all about cooperating. I can't do a lot of the most physical labor that I can process things and I can help design things, and I can body double/help organize processes like a motherfucker.
