From what I've seen they are genuine 'miracle drugs' for a lot of people who've struggled with weight management for decades. Because they are so recently in widespread use I'm not certain what happens once people move to a 'maintenance' dose and then stop - lifetsyle changes will be needed, I think

People are now paying up to £300/month for this drug. If they were asked to pay that much in tax to create an environment they did not feel they had to drive everywhere in there would be outrage.* *I realise that obesity is complex and access to a more active lifestyle is not a panacea.

So I think that in part you're right - the approach of creating traffic via divisive reporting and sensationalism is one approach that has been widely adopted by nationally owned sites but there are alternative routes being used susccesfully and both allow informed coverage of important local issues

From my local experience, @bhcitynews.bsky.social deliver quality news without the puff. The other, @brightonargus.bsky.social, has *a lot* of padding but also covers 'hard news'. Both use excellent coverage by @bhdemocracynews.bsky.social but also have their own staff covering non LA local stories.
