I confess. And to make it even worse, I add butter in addition to the peanut butter and jelly. I fear I am irredeemable after doing this for nearly six decades.
Err on the side of kindness. Love more. When life gets bad, try to remember all the good little things. Anything at all. You got this... even when you don't think you do.

There are two things that are important to me to try to grow. One of them is strawberries. Such fond memories of being outside with Grandpa and him letting me sneak a strawberry off the plant. I made my bed just like he did and I'm so excited to see all the babies starting. I hope he would be proud

My mom told me a long time ago to never make fun of people who mispronounce words but use them correctly. It usually meant they were a reader and not someone who picked up the word in conversation. And they were usually a lot smarter than the person making fun or feeling the need to correct them

More sticks come back to life. I thought they weren't going to actually grow, but apparently I was not patient enough. These are some broken branches off a dying plant. I literally had the pot sitting there so I could plant something else in it. #LifeOnThePorch

Pineapples are going crazy! The one in the right is about 15 years old and the one in the left is only about 5. We need to figure out where to move them so they'll quit stabbing me when I try to weed. #LifeInTheGarden

I never imagined there were so many people who had no shame in our country. When we get to the other side of this, every one of those norms needs to become enshrined in law. Immediately. Before it's too late.

My granddaughter decided she wanted to wear my son-in-law's snake as a necklace. Not exactly my idea of high fashion but to each their own. I don't usually let him bring the snake over to the house because my daughter-in-law is terrified, but it's a family pet and he's good with the kids.

So I tried growing some corn for us people and it didn't work out so well. Turns out growing corn in Florida ain't so easy. But this is some Seed corn for the hens so we'll see how it goes. #LifeOnThePorch

U-Haul used to have a provision in their agreement that you could not transport people in their trucks. I wonder if Penske has the same thing in theirs? And if they know what they're being used for?

Love that new life can come from a couple of sticks I pulled off a dying plumeria. Took about 2 years, but they suddenly started blooming this year. This is the first time I've seen leaves on them. #LifeOnThePorch

I feel your pain and I'm sending some money in my son's name. He was the victim of a sword heist in Tennessee years ago but they did not leave him a sword to avenge his honor.

Had a full breakdown this morning. I miss my beloved Bigdawg so much. You would think 10 years would dull the pain, but some days no, doesn't even come close. And then I come outside and the giant gladiolus that I planted in his honor have their first bloom. Seize the little joys β€οΈ #LifeOnThePorch

It's hard to balance the continual outrage about what's happening not only here but in the world and the need to maintain some kind of personal sanity. My gardens and my porch help with that, but it's only a momentary distraction. Life is hard for so many right now. π

I have achieved sunflowers. These are supposed to get about 6 ft tall. Once the other flowers in my little butterflies/bee garden start coming in, I'll throw more seeds in the empty areas. So excited! #LifeOnThePorch

I generally buy 5 or 10 lb rolls and break it down. We have definitely cut back on our meat consumption. Have a garden going and chickens to help offset food costs, but I don't have a very large lot, so even that is limited. Thank goodness I had chickens before the eggs went crazy
Macwench (@macwench.bsky.social) reply parent
Can we talk about hamburger? Used to be able to buy it for around $3.49 or so and now I'm lucky if I can find any that's not almost $5. And that's buying the rolls and not the good hamburger. Also here in Florida

Spending more time in the yard now that the porch is pretty well taken care of. Can't do much between about 11:00 and 4:00 because of the heat index. Worth it to get up early tho may even end up with bananas this year! Makes my heart happy just to sit out here listening to the birds #LifeOnThePorch

You can't pull yourself up by your bootstraps if you don't even have any boots. And that's where a lot of people are right now. We are a wealthy enough nation there shouldn't even be a question of taking care of those that need it. But here we are.

POV when you had to cut down all the cucumbers because you couldn't get a handle on the bugs. Sprayed everything else with Neem oil to make sure they didn't spread. One of the advantages of living in Florida is I can replant. But damn!

My daughter gave me this cactus shortly after my husband died 10 years ago. I've ignored it for most of the time. Honestly thought it was dead. But I started watering it anyway. And now it stands as a reminder - no matter how far gone you think you might be, there's always a chance for a new start.

Hi Jon if I owed you an answer, which I don't, it would be that I believe lots of things are sins, way too many to list on a silly little app like this. How about you? Do you believe Jesus charged us with caring for The Stranger and for those less fortunate? By deed and not just by prayers for them?
Macwench (@macwench.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes I'm a Christian. And usually when I say that, I have to say "but not that kind of Christian" after. I firmly believe that welcoming the stranger, helping the poor, putting others before yourself is what Jesus taught. He talked an awful lot about loving other people, including those society shuns

Life on the porch today. I leave them alone, and they leave me alone. We've had that arrangement for ten years. Every couple of years a generation is born that doesn't remember the rules and we have to remove their nests and encourage them to relocate, but otherwise we're good.
