The Trump deportation nightmare is even worse than we feared. A new report reveals that ICE has detained *50* children under 18 in the NYC area since January. At least 4 as young as 6 years old. 38 children have already been deported. This achieves nothing other than cruelty.

It’s really happening: 135 E.57th St is a large office building that’s been mostly vacant since the pandemic. And now it is going to be converted to housing—350 units, including affordable. 4+ million sq. ft. of conversions are now underway in Manhattan. Let’s keep this going.

This is the info Health Dept has provided so far: “There were 11 presumptive positive (based on initial tests) cooling towers. All of those buildings have complied with the DOH order to increase or change their disinfectant. Complete culture results are expected later this week.”

Cool news: The outdated Bloomingdale Library on W. 100th St. is proposed to be knocked down, replaced by a new building with 850 units, including affordable apartments, and a brand new library at its base. A win-win. We need creative plans like this all over NYC.

Two weeks ago heavy rain in NYC caused flooding in the subway. Today temps in the high 90s caused a power failure at a major station, leaving 8 lines fully or partially shut down. This is not sustainable. We need to invest in a subway system that can function in this new world of extreme weather.

Here's the actual data on recorded crime on New York City's transit system, from 1993–2025, for the period from January 1–July 13. There's little evidence of an upsurge in crime, a phenomenon that the US DOT Secretary often claims is occurring.

This is horrific. Dylan, a Bronx high schooler who fled violence in Venezuela, did everything right. But without a lawyer present, ICE trapped & arrested him - stripping him of his protections & sending him into a brutal, fast-tracked deportation process. We must demand his immediate release.

At Starbucks, a majority of shareholders—led by public pension funds—voted for an independent labor rights audit. At Wells Fargo, they won a vote demanding accountability on discrimination and fake diversity practices. This is real power. We need to be using it much more. /4
