Healthcare workers should wear N95 masks as routinely as they wash their hands. HEPA air filtration and high air exchange rates should be standard in all health care settings. This is not in any medical school at the moment, just as handwashing was not in any medical schools in 1850.

Melbournians did it tough for the greater good, in and out of lockdowns to achieve Covid zero. But we still had arseholes! And when they eventually lifted all mitigations (after many were vaccinated) the needle swung in the other direction. No one wants anything that reminds them of the hardship.

I live in a city that did the polar opposite- Melbourne, Australia, we had some of the longest lockdowns in the world. We had fantastic leadership both medical and political (our State Premier). It made a difference.

Several advocacy groups have proven that there are no rental properties in the entire country that someone on a minimum wage could rent. What this looks like is people having to share housing or be homeless. We are an incredibly urban population, and rents in the country are not much cheaper.
