The undertones run through his whole catalog. The man is a poet first.

A gross 69, net 67 means he has maybe a 3 handicap, right? That would be an exception a l score for a player that averages 77
MattInTheCorn (@mattinthecorn.bsky.social) reply parent
It might be gross and net, but these scores seem really low, even with handicap.

And where will such deals be struck after September?

Drove by it yesterday

And, if that weren't the case, nobody would wat cheeseburgers or explore space because neither is really logical from an evidence based perspective. But humans do those things. For better or worse, its our condition.
MattInTheCorn (@mattinthecorn.bsky.social) reply parent
The way I see it, even those of us who try to stick to data and statistics have major blind spots we dont admit. We are all human and subject to the same flawed evaluations of risk. So the sooner we realize we aren't as logical as we think, and give others grace for the same, the better.
MattInTheCorn (@mattinthecorn.bsky.social) reply parent
Not to mention the time commitment required from parents to get the kiddos around. Blu collar parents who have to punch a clock many times can't do it, while the white collar ones working flexible schedules and arrangements can.

What about Living Color "Cult of Personality"? Too mainstream? Too on-the-nose?
MattInTheCorn (@mattinthecorn.bsky.social) reply parent
Related but different, I heard one time that Tools "Sober" would be a great alt country cover, and i have searched for a flaw in that opinion for 30 years without finding it.
MattInTheCorn (@mattinthecorn.bsky.social) reply parent
Jar of Flies is very nearly perfect. I have been listening to it for like 30 years and still find things I never noticed before. The high water mark for AIC in my humble opinion.

I drove a 1978 Monte Carlo for years without reverse. I once had to ask a date to get out and help me push it backwards after we got parked in. I didn't get a second date.

Yeah, but I bet you've never appreciated 3 straight hours of sleep as much as you do now.
MattInTheCorn (@mattinthecorn.bsky.social) reply parent
We took shifts holding our oldest for the first 6 months. I would hold her until 2am, feed her, and hand her off to my wife until we all got up at 5. But it gets better, they go to sleep on their own when they get a little older.

Might be too niche, but what about "Hell" by the Squirrel Nut Zippers? Or maybe some swing revival thing that I don't care to think about?

Any thoughts on a possible hidden correlation with thoughts on the effectiveness of government? I.e. the left more likely assumes the government can solve problems and therefore more willing to accept suggestion?

Watched that one last night at the club after my game. It turns out to be a pretty fun one.

Our institutions have worked so well for so long, that people assume a false baseline. Even the "government is broken" folks are talking about lines that are too long at the DMV, not about losing their bank deposits or drinking adulterated milk.

Cooking has become a lifestyle or a hobby, so there is a lot of pressure to make meals that have many specific ingredients that some chef on the food channel was cooking. My mom would brown some hamburger and open a can.

Thing is, the fog people sit on all the resources the blueskys (no pun intended) need. So, the millionaire militia ruling class needs convince them that it is in their best interest to be ruled and transfer it.

It feels like a point of no return, but if we're being honest, we've blown by so many points if no return in the last 8 years that it's hard not to be a bit numb. Also, I'm not sure how one negotiates things to make government work with folks who want to burn down the government. Is it alarming.
