i will never forget when we launched among us vr (came in very hot and very buggy) and dreamsmp played it and hated it. i thought "oh no, this is it". but then the clip with jerma and vinny vinesauce blew up and it was so bite sized that /that's/ what defined the narrative. blink of an eye.
i genuinely would love to see a true postmortem autopsy that finds the events that elevated hollow knight to superstardom
i suppose this is a problem of youtube's own making, though - make algochasing absolutely skinflint and suddenly every video is the same
i think it's also /trying/ to promote smaller channels but is doing a poor job of screening quality in the name of closest similarly match. most of the new channel suggestions i'm getting are formulaic/manchildy and i don't want to watch them

on my end (power user here), youtube tilted my algo way heavier on "older content from channel you recently watched" rather than "related content from other channels"
I started playing this in earnest this week and when Amyl and the Sniffers immediately came on followed by Baby Huey I started to be convinced that this might be the game for me. But yeah the AI companion is uncool and the vibe feels very squeaky clean. A little off-putting for a "hangout" game.
oh just the latter, i am completely indifferent on hollow knight as it's not my kinda game
i don't think silksong is doing anything unfair, but boy do i understand the pain and anxiety of everyone who can't afford to price their game like that

color management is the /only/ thing that's making me think i'll upgrade at least my living room NUC to it. i have the hdr dialed in alright but there's still no brightness adjust in win10 and some of the darker uhd grades are just unwatchable
