Initially my take was that JBP didn’t have the image advantage and gravitas that Newsom naturally has. But JBP brought the A game (professional, unyielding chutzpah) while GN has dallied around with parody silliness. Advantage JBP.
Watching JBP continue to stand up to Trump with strength, professionalism, and chutzpah is increasingly impressive. I may have been dead wrong earlier.

We’re playing the same game with Trump that many Putin observers have been playing for a long time: reading tea leaves for any possible hint at health deterioration. Granted, there have been some with both men, but it is a long and slow game to play—full of disappointments.

Unfortunately, Pritzker’s gutty stand today makes the “invasion” of Chicago a certainty (although it probably already was anyway). Time will tell if it remains peaceful and pathetically demonstrative, or otherwise.
This is going to get a lot worse. And pathetically enough it may just be the Republicans who have any possible power to stop it before it gets really ugly. And I highly doubt they will at this point. Pence’s ostracism scares the hell out of these crass power junkies. (I hope to god I’m wrong.)

Wrong. And not everyone in the middle is a bigot. That’s a crass overgeneralization. The bigots aren’t going left anyway. But there are many who are suspicious of both parties and are independent minded. Others just aren’t political or barely care enough to vote. We need their votes.
I don’t know how to respond to word salad. Some is this seems logical, some seems like a sloppy word salad bar. The middle is much more demographically and educationally diverse than you or I know. Write them off at your party’s peril. I keep seeing Dems admonishing to abandon the middle. FAFO.
My heart goes out to you. Our black shorthair dachshund mix recently turned 15 and is clearly slowing down in all ways. He was a rescue 15 yrs ago; except he rescued us. Seeing such a vivacious and athletic dog slowly wind down is tough. He’s been a good friend. Losing a dog is losing family. Sucks.

I don’t disagree. Seeing so much of labor seemingly turn on Dems last election was truly sickening. We need a hero. I will never get over Trump’s second election. Ever. I lost a TON of faith in humanity that day. A ton.

Hillary was a deeply unlikable candidate to many (but I still voted for her). Harris was only marginally more likable for whatever reason. Biden (and Bibi) did her no favors. Deeply rooted chauvinism didn’t either.

There is never a perfect messenger. The trick is to find one who is likable enough to forgive their faults—& likable enough to appeal to the other side (or indies) on optics, if not substance. Americans want good tv candidates. Charisma counts. Hillary had a charisma deficit; Kamala too.

Same here. I tend to repost things that really need to be viral or something humorous or novel. Otherwise, commentary should really accompany a repost or else people have a timeline of empty reposts. That’s almost like a bot account to me.
