Like I need constant reassurance to make sure I know people don't hate me, and it's hard to get that, but it's easy to imagine strangers being mad at you. I think it's more important to give yourself a break and keep getting out there then learning better ways to torture yourself, if possible.
It sounds like you probably do know how to socialise but you're just so worried about your own perceived skill that it gets in the way some times. I'm sure it wasn't as bad as you thought, obviously I can only speak from my own experiences but I know I beat myself up like that too!
