For me, that honor goes to Ladrönn's issues with James Robinson and Joe Casey. Mignola's Cable in X-Force was also good, but not as good as you want it to be. But Ladrönn fused Kirby's energy with Franco-Belgian storytelling, and it ruled.

I think it's why I love books like Astro City, Powers or Section Zero so much. These books that throw you into the deep end of a world that has seemingly been there for decades, trusting the reader to figure it out piece by piece, issue by issue. Also, Section Zero has big Dubbilex energy.
